Advantages: Everything. It's mint..... (haha)
Disadvantages: Erm... none...
I bought this shampoo on impulse because it was green (my favourite colour) a great shaped bottle and I liked the sound of mint and tee tree. Also it was incredibly cheap. I hadn't settled on a shampoo at the time and was just trying something new every month. I've tried all sorts of shampoos ranging in smell, volume boosting, blonde hair, posh packaging, expensive, cheap and cheerful... and I was really impressed with this. I must be onto my third bottle now. You get 250ml for about £1. It's usually on special offer somewhere, and that lasts quite a long time, about 6 weeks I think.
The most amazing thing about it is the smell. You wake up feeling rubbish "I can't be bothered but I suppose I'd better get up...." and go in the shower, open the bottle and wham! The smell is there. It's quite strong, but not in an off-putting way, more in a make you feel awake and fresh as a daisy way. I love the smell. It's a great start to the day. Apparently mint oil has cooling and invigorating properties. I'd agree with that from using this.
It lathers up really nicely too, and you don't need much of it (although I have fairly short hair, so maybe it's just me) and you feel cleaner as well as being clean. It does a great job. I use it with the mint and tee tree conditioner (just as good) and when you're all done you get lovely soft hair. The bottle says "fresh, clean & natural feel" and I couldn't agree more.
The bottle is a nice shape with a good flat base for standing upright. The lid is easy to open whether your hands are wet or dry, unlike some shampoos where the packaging has been ill considered.
It might be worth pointing out that I have fine blonde hair. I don't know how this would work for people who don't... it does say it's for all hair types.
Other things:
- Original Source don't test on animals
- The shampoo has been "domestically produced to minimise our product miles" - great if you're concerned about the environment. According to their website this means that all the ingredients are from the UK, not flown in.
-Original Source are a member of the Aromatherapy Trade Council which means that they are concerned about our safety, high standards and providing the right information, as well as having ethical concerns (such as animal testing and product miles as mentioned above)
-This product is also suitable for vegans.
-You are encouraged to recycle the bottle after use.
Green shampoo. Green ideas.
Summary: Smells great, looks good, does the job. You won't be disappointed by this.
