Advantages: very cleansing, Gives good body and bounce

Disadvantages: A bit drying, could be irritating to sensitive skins

When I first read about Original Source free samples I was thrilled. I suffer from perfume allergies and the big problem is that it takes body warmth to bring the allergic reactions out in me. I have to use and wear a product before I can tell if I?m allergic to it or not. This has led to my friends and family being constantly given bottles of shower gel, shampoo and perfume I love but just can?t keep wearing. They?re happy, but not me! It?s very depressing, very disappointing and rather expensive having to keep buying things you can?t use. A chance to try out samples BEFORE I had to pass over money was a dream come true for me and I dashed to the Original Source website and signed up straight away.

Up to now I've lathered myself through several delicious shower gels with no allergy problems. This is my first shampoo. I was rather pleased to see it was a "volumising" shampoo. I have hair that's very fine and even with gels and hairsprays it goes "flat" within hours.

What's it like?

The shampoo is fairly thick and it?s a nice soft milky blue-green colour. It takes a small amount to lather up well and the intense pepperminty scent is very pleasant. It says on the packet ?A zingy, never felt before experience..? Well it certainly lives up to the promise! On your scalp it has that ice-burn sensation of peppermint that really makes you feel like every nerve end is alive. Very refreshing. There are real essential oils used in the Original Source products. Peppermint to stimulate and refresh and Tea tree as a ?natural antiseptic.? It left my hair and scalp feeling tingly clean.

Original Source states that this shampoo will add "volume to fine or thin hair whilst optimising its health, strength and shine." It also says it contains "Hydrolysed Wheat Protein" to moisturise your hair and add body, whilst the mint stimulates the blood supply to the scalp which should encourage better hair
growth.

My verdict?

Well it really did give my wispy fine hair more body and it felt clean and fresh the entire day, but my hair definitely felt more dry and it's not as shiny as normal. It seems you may have to decide which you prefer, limp-but-shiny or light-and-full-of-body-but-a-bit-dull.

Allergy reactions? No sneezes at all, but my scalp definitely has been itchy today. Not bad, but enough that I've noticed myself scratching my head like a monkey in the zoo.

Would I buy it again?

No. It has a lovely smell and it has given my hair really good body and bounce, but I wouldn't buy this one as I definitely seem to be sensitive to it. Original Source states they have different variants for different hair-types so I might try a less drying, less astringent version.

The basic facts.

Original Source products are not tested on animals. The company also regularly checks its ingredient suppliers to ensure that no ingredients used have been tested on animals since the company launched in 1997. They state ?We only work with the best suppliers of high quality ingredients and are firmly against animal testing.? They are registered with the Vegan society as well as the Aromatherapy Trade Council.
The product info:

Original Source products can be found at all the main supermarkets, Boots and many others. This shampoo comes in a 300ml plastic bottle and is also being brought out by Original Source in a smaller 200ml for easy packing on holidays or short trips.
