I love the Original Source range and always end up buying the new 'flavours' as and when I come across them. I've had this White Pear and Avocado Shampoo stashed away at the back of my cupboard for ages, and have finally got around to digging it out and using it. There are additional items in this particular Original Source range, and I am also using the matching shower cream and conditioner. It comes in a clear plastic bottle which allows the product to show through, and I like this because it allows you to see exactly how much you have left inside. The bottle has a plastic flip-top lid at the top of the bottle with a small hole underneath which the product is dispensed through. The shower cream and conditioner both come in the same type of bottle with the lid at the bottom, but because this shampoo bottle has the lid at the top it is easier to tell it apart from the others. The fragrance of this shampoo is quite unusual, and not exactly what I was expecting. I had thought that it might have a sweet scent because of the pears (admittedly I am not sure what avocados smell like, so it might be more avocado-y), but instead it has a very fresh and clean scent to it, like the type of fragrance you get with beauty products made from aloe vera or cucumber. This is nice in its own way and I think it would be suitable for both men and women to use as the fragrance is quite neutral. The shampoo itself has a creamy white colour with just the slightest tint of green to it, which fits in with the ingredients used. It has a gooey gel texture that spreads easily through my hair and creates a really rich amount of lather that thoroughly coats all of my hair and works right down into the roots. It seems really effective at giving a deep clean and it leaves my hair feeling fresh afterwards. I have had really good results even when my hair has been greasy if I haven't washed it for a few days, or after I've been exercising and my hair is a sweaty mess, this shampoo cleanses and rebalances my hair. I've stopped dyeing my hair and have begun having regular haircuts to try and keep it healthy. I have noticed that even though this shampoo cleans really well, it does not provide my hair with enough moisture to keep it in good condition. It claims to offer "damage limitation" for normal/stressed hair types, but I can't say I've noticed any results in this area and feel like I should stick with a more moisturising shampoo that will keep my hair hydrated. Overall this is a good shampoo that gives my hair a thorough deep clean and works well to get rid of any build-ups of oils or products. It is nice and refreshing and cleanses well, but I think I could do with something that is a bit more moisturising to really keep my hair in top condition.
I bought this shampoo a couple of years ago when I was in Cornwall as I ran out of shampoo while staying in the caravan. I'd never heard of Original Source having shampoos, but was curious to try and I was very pleased with the results. One problem I'd been having at the time was that after I had bleached my hair, a lot of the shampoos would not wash out of my hair properly and leave it feeling sticky until it was dry. I decided to go with a shampoo that was natural and wouldn't keep leaving my hair feeling like I'd used a load of harsh chemicals on it. I was very pleased with this shampoo. However, it seems to have vanished off of the shelves, as I cannot find it anywhere, and it really is better than any shampoo I've used before, so I'm very disappointed. I really liked the packaging, as it had a great texture that made it easier to grip with wet hands, and the lid was very convenient. I also really liked the layout of the label, its very easy to read and it's not over designed with a load of flowers, it's nice and simple. The shampoo itself worked wonders on my hair, it lathered really nicely and washed out quickly. The shampoo smelt gorgeous and the avocado and white pear really blend well together and give your hair a lovely feel and shine. Its really hard to get shiny hair when you have just had it bleached, but this shampoo is brilliant. I'm really disappointed to see that its either been discontinued or that it's not being stocked in Birmingham. It was a brilliant product, and was my favourite shampoo.
I like Original Source shampoos and products, I find they are good products and worth the money. I usually just buy a shampoo that catches my eye and this one was the last one which caught my eye on a shopping trip. The shampoo comes housed in a clear plastic bottle which has a flip back top. The shampoo is a white colour and it doesn't drip from the bottle because it is quite a rich consistency and not runny. It has a smooth, soft texture and smells really fruity and smells really nice and refreshing. I can smell it on my hair throughout the day I have washed it using this shampoo. Not much is needed with this one to create lots of bubbles on the hair and it lathers really well indeed. Just a small blob on the hand is well enough amount to wash the hair. It contains white Pear and Avocado but I cannot detect these ingredients separately, I can just smell a fruity smell. It cleans hair really well indeed and leaves it feeling nice and soft. Some of my older grandchildren have washed their hair with this shampoo and not used a conditioner on their hair after shampooing and it has left their hair feeling soft and manageable. For my hair it has also left it soft and I am able to then just use my hair gel on my hair. Very easy to rinse from the hair with no problems. It leaves my hair looking shiny and also the hair of my granddaughter's who have much longer hair. it is a nice gentle shampoo and one that is of a very good quality indeed. The bottle size is 250ml and so a lot of shampoo for the price of around £2. It is often on offer and I bought it while on offer some time ago for only a £1. Super value for this lower price. This isn't a heavy shampoo, it leave the hair feeling just nice and soft and very manageable. Some of my granddaugher's like to style their hair after washing it and they haven't complained this one has left their hair feeling too heavy and they are not able to style their hair in the usual way. It hasn't irritated any of our scalps or been too harsh a shampoo for my smaller grandchildren. I haven't washed my toddlers hair with this shampoo because I like to use a baby product for their hair. I would say this one would be adequate enough for a toddler's hair because it is a gentle one but I haven't used it for the smaller ones in my family. I recommend this shampoo for anyone looking for a really nice fruity smelling shampoo. It is worth the money and I am happy with the way it washed our hair in my family. It is a nice family shampoo for all members of the family to use on a regular basis. I rate it 5 stars.
In recent weeks my hair has been feeling a bit frazzled and uncared for. I had a close family wedding a few weeks ago and as many people know Asian weddings tend to go on for a few days with various celebrations. My hair was put through its paces with a combination of straighteners and curling tongs and despite taking care to use heat defence spray my hair was in desperate need of some tlc. I spotted the Original Source white pear and avocado shampoo and conditioner in my local pound store where it cost, yes you've guessed it, a pound! The shampoo seemed ideal as it claimed to be formulated for normal to stressed hair so I popped a bottle in my basket. The shampoo comes housed in a transparent triangular shaped bottle with a flip top black lid and 250ml of white coloured shampoo inside. The product name is written in black and green bold capital letters on the front of the bottle and is in keeping with the design of the rest of the range. The bottle stands on its base rather than its lid and so can be easily distinguished from its accompanying conditioner (which I also bought at the same time and shall be reviewing separately). As the name suggests the shampoo contains white pear and avocado. Avocado, according to Original Source is God's gift to hair and skin with its intense moisturising properties. Both ingredients work together to help strengthen hair and increase its shine. White pear in particular gives hair a mineral boost. The shampoo contains UV inhibitors to help strengthen and protect hair against the sun and also "anti-polluntants" to actively fight against the effect of urban living. To use I applied a 50p sized blob to wet hair and massaged it over my head. The shampoo had a nice thick consistency, but not so thick that it was difficult to get out of the bottle. On rubbing the shampoo produced a good amount of lather. The smell of this product is really quite delicious. I would describe this as sweet and fruity with a nice zesty tang. The good thing is that the scent is quite long lasting, not only on my hair but also in the bathroom, which smells amazing for a good few hours after I've had a bath. The shampoo is easy to rinse out and does not leave behind a residue. Like all shampoos this works best with its accompanying conditioner which I do normally use. Once rinsed off I towel-dry my hair and then run a comb through it. If I use the shampoo on its own my hair is left quite knotty but with the conditioner this is not a problem. Once combed my hair is left soft and manageable with a healthy looking shine and bounce. I have tried this without a conditioner but the results are not so good with my hair becoming quite knotty and difficult to comb through, so I would recommend using the shampoo and conditioner together. Overall I am really pleased with this shampoo and have gone back to the pound store to stock up on some more bottles. However I haven't seen this available in high street shops like Boots or in supermarkets and from the reviews on the Original Source website it looks like this product has been discontinued, which is a shame. Bring it back!
Being a big lover of Original Source products and spotting this in Boots when out and about I decided that I had to give this a try and have been delighted with the results it gives and here is why. Pros: This is a great shampoo that leaves your hair feeling clean and amazingly fresh. Whilst other shampoo's are out there to simply clean your hair this one offers up an amazingly fresh smell which stays with you for hours after you have washed your hair. This is in an extermely well designed bottle that allows you to handle simply with less chance of the bottle slipping out of your hand. The shampoo is of a great consistency and so you won't need to use much each time to enable a good wash that will leave your hair feeling clean and fresh. This shampoo leaves your hair feeling not just clean but also soft so you needn't worry about buying a conditioner to go with this. Great value shampoo as in line with prices of standard shampoos from other leading brands but with so little needing to be used each time this will last and last therefore making it well worth the money. Negatives: None As someone who has skin problems then I need a shampoo that is going to be gentle yet effective and I have been impressed with how clean, soft and fresh smelling this leaves my hair whilst not causing me any skin issues. The shampoo smells simply great and is one I would happily use and buy again. Well worth a go and I'm sure you will be back for more as this is simply an excellent product.
I am a fan of the original source shower gels so I was over the moon when I seen some original source shampoo and conditioners in boots a few weeks back. I was eager to give them a try and I was extra excited when I noticed that they were on offer at just a pound. I opted for the white pear and avocado variety as the scent was gorgeous and fruity and it suited my damaged hair type. The original source shampoo comes in a clear 250ml bottle that has the usual original source appearance to it. The shampoo inside is white in colour and you can tell just by looking at it that the consistency is thick. The bottle stands upright and it has a black top that can be pushed up to release the shampoo. The first thing you notice with this product is the gorgeous fruity scent. As soon as the lid is popped you are able to smell the lovely strong fragrance of the product which makes shampooing with this an absolute delight. The shampoo is designed for normal/stressed hair and it is used to strengthen and protect. My hair used to be very damaged off bleaching but now after using treatments it is now getting to a nicer stage where I am able to use products that are suitable for many different hair types and this product seems to cover that. I always use conditioner on my hair but for reviewing purposes I left it out a few times just so I could see the true benefits of the shampoo. I start by applying a generous amount to my hair and rubbing it in to create a rich lather. The product needs a bit of work to create a big lather but I don't mind as it means I get to use this product for longer and take in the delicious scent. The product can then be rinsed from the hair and repeated if necessary. Due to the shampoo being rather thick it does take a little bit more time to rinse the product out of the hair thoroughly to ensure there isn't any remaining which will create a nasty residue. Without conditioner the hair is almost impossible to brush so I certainly wouldn't recommend using this without one unless you have extremely good conditioned hair. Overall this white pear and avocado scent is to die for and the shampoo was an absolute pleasure to use however my hair is fine and I could not use this product every day as it is a bit too heavy for me but I will continue to use it as a treat every now and again. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who has thick, normal to damaged hair.
I picked up a bottle of this product while it was on offer in my local Boots, it was only £1.50 for the bottle (usually nearer £2.29). I love the Original Source shower gels and so was intrigued to try one of their shampoos as I have never seen these before. This one comes in the same shape of bottle as all the other Original Source products which is slightly aline with the cap at the top. The product itself is a thick white liquid and so the bottle is white with green lettering, it looks very nice. Other than appearances I am not really a fan of the bottle. Because the cap is at the top and the shape of the bottle is asymetric, the bottle will not balance on its cap so as you get to the bottom of the bottle there is a lot of shaking involved. Also, the cap is incredibly awkward to actually open, it is a strange chunky flip top cap which you really have to get your nail under to prise open - not the most convenient thing which you are mid shower! Bottle aside though - I love this shampoo. It smells absolutely devine, the white pear is the overriding scent and it is very sweet and fruity smelling. The aroma stays on your hair which is nice. It lathers up very easily and rinses out cleanly, it immediately leaves your hair feeling squeaky clean which is a big plus for me. This product has left my hair feeling quite stong and shiny and I will definitely invest again, especially if I can find it on offer, I would also be tempted to try other shampoos from their range and will definitely be sampling the conditioner when my current one runs out. As I have been impressed with the shampoo on its own I am sure using both shampoo and conditioner together will give at least an equally good result. Aside from the bottle design this is a really good product and one I enjoy using - I think it feels far more luxurious than the price tag suggests.
