Osmo Intensive deep Repair Hair Mask (100ml)
I bought this as it was in the feelunique sale last summer and I always colour my hair so I thought this product would be a great buy to repair my hair from the colourings.
- Product description (feel unique)
"Deep nourishing treatment to restore the moisture balance and elasticity. Jojoba provides a rich source of vitamins to hydrate even severely damaged hair."
- About the product
The product have comes in a clear plastic tube but this mask can come in a tube form too. The one I have is the 100ml but it is also available in a 250ml tube. The mask is specifically designed for stressed, damaged dry hair. It claims to restore moisture, elasticity and leave the hair smooth, silky and manageable.
I had never tried any mask from this brand before so I didn't know what to expect but I had the Osmo berber hair oil before which did smell amazing. The scent of this product however is far from amazing! The scent to me smells like a dusty damp cupboard, an old school cupboard - it is the only way I can describe this scent! The smell is horrible and not just because it reminds me of primary school, it is musky and old - not what I was expecting at all.
- Using the product and results
The instructions on the tube say that you can leave this product in the hair (towel dried) for 3 to 5 minutes or you can leave it on for 7 to 10 minutes for damaged hair. I have used this mask both ways and I usually use it for only 3 to 5 minutes because I hate the scent. I take a small handful of the mask (not very accurate I know!) and I smooth it through the ends and midlengths of my hair as my hair is dry and long so I need to use quite a lot of product each time. The mask has a really smooth creamy texture and a thick, slightly gloopy consistency. It applies to the hair well and it feels like it is detangling when I massage it into the ends/midlengths of my hair. The scent does intensifying when this product is being used which is horrible and after about four minutes I rinse this mask out. It rinses out really easily and quickly leaving my hair smooth and mostly detangled. When my hair is dry I don't really see that much of a differenced when I use this mask and when I use my normal conditioner. It does make my hair smooth, mostly detangled and moisturised but my normal conditioner does that anyway - the results are pretty average and nothing that I wouldn't get from a conditioner. The scent does transfer to the hair slightly but it doesn't last that long on me. Overall, it is easy to use but the scent is horrible and the results are pretty average!
- Price and availability
I bought this when it was about £3 and it is now priced at £5.05 for a large 250ml tube so it is very very cheap. This product can be bought from feelunique, ebay and other beauty online shops. The price is incredibly cheap, especially for the amount you get so even though it is average and it wasn't amazing for me I think at that price it is worth trying.
*Easy to use and rinse out
*Leaves my hair pretty smooth, mostly detangled and moisturised
*The scent is horrible - like an old damp cupboard (odd description, I know!)
*Average results for me
*Not very widely available
Thank you for reading my review
The OSMO Intensive Deep Repair mask is a product I have been using for quite some time now, so I felt it was about time I reviewed it. I bought this from Fragrance Direct after reading several glowing reviews of the product.
==What is it?==
This is an intensive hair treatment, which in OSMO's words 'is specially formulated for over stressed, heat traumatised and chemically abused hair.' My hair is definitely stressed and definitely heat traumatised since I put the straighteners on it most days and since I colour it too it probably fits into the chemically abused category too!
The product is enriched with jojoba which they say is a rich form of vitamins. A lot of hair products seem to contain jojoba and I have had success with jojoba based products in the past, so that made me even keener to try this out.
The product comes in a pearly cream coloured tube which stands on a black flip top lid. The packaging is actually quite plain, but I do think there's something about it which makes it look like it could belong in a salon.
As well as tubes I have also seen that you can buy this product in a big white tub. Personally I think I prefer the tube as it takes up less space than a tub would and when you're scooping a product out of a tub there is a tendency to get it under your fingernails which is something I hate.
The instructions for use advise to apply to towel dried hair. I think I only actually did this for the first few uses. The truth is, having very long, thick hair, I simply don't have the time or inclination to towel dry it before applying a mask and then rinsing it out and drying it again! I now squeeze as much moisture out of my hair as possible and then apply the mask. I have noticed no difference between doing that and actually towel drying my hair first, so I've continued with my own quicker and lazier method!
The mask has a very thick consistency and when you squeeze it out it stays in a sort of worm shape. The consistency actually reminds me more of a body butter than a hair product. Despite its thickness however, I do find that it is really easy to apply and smoothes through the hair easily.
The smell of this mask is beautiful. It has a very soft, feminine scent to it and is slightly floral, although unfortunately I can't quite work out which flower it actually smells like! It's a subtle aroma but a pleasant one and I'll put my neck on the line and say that I think most people will like it because it's quite neutral.
The directions on the tube advise to leave the product in for 3-5 minutes, or if you hair is severely damaged 7-10. I usually go for the shorter of those two options as I rarely have the patience to wait a full ten minutes. It rinses out of the hair very easily with plain water. I use it once a week.
The results I get from this product are very impressive. The main difference is that my hair feels unbelievably soft. I wouldn't have necessarily said my hair was coarse before hand, but it was quite dry due to over-styling and this product leaves it much more moisturised and silky to the touch.
I notice a healthy shine to my hair after using this and my hair seems to retain the gentle scent. Frizz is tamed - I wouldn't say eradicated completely - but certainly my hair is not as frizzy after using this product as it tends to be when I don't use it.
The only downside to the product is that because my hair is so soft it can be difficult to style immediately after using this. It tends to feel quite silky so any clips I put in it slide about and don't hold the style in the way I would like. If you're going out somewhere or are intending to wear your hair in an 'up do' then I would suggest using this product two days before the event rather than the night before, for ease of styling.
==Price and Availability==
I have never seen this product anywhere on the high street and I haven't seen it in salons either, but I assume it probably is available in the shops if you look hard enough.
I bought mine from Feelunique.com where it costs £4.30 for the 250ml tube. They also sell a smaller 100ml pot for £2.80. I have found the large 1 litre tub for £10.86 on Amazon.
All in all I would definitely recommend this mask. It's a great boost for the hair and leaves it feeling silky soft and hydrated. If you regularly use heated appliances on your hair and have noticed it becoming frazzled, you NEED this product, it is absolutely fantastic! As a bonus it smells great and doesn't cost a fortune either. Well done OSMO and thank you for giving my hair the treat it deserves!
I have had some wars with my hair in the past, which have left my hair dry, dull, fried and in just an awful state. After using heat styling, colouring and bleaching, I had to find something that would save my hair from the life support machine it so madly clung on to, and after trying a multitude of different products, I finally found Osmo Essence Deep Intensive Repair Mask.
I first found this mask when I was in a Sally's store, and the woman who worked there said it would be good for my hair. It was just a small trial pot, so I thought if it didn't work, I hadn't really lost much and I figured almost anything was worth a try at that point.
The mask comes in a clear plastic pot, which a screw cap, also made out of the same clear plastic. Inside, you will find a thick, creamy white product which has a really nice smell. There is a slight hint of coconut in the smell, but not sure what else there is. It is fresh and comforting at the same time, and doesn't smell like something you would generally expect from a conditioning mask.
It is quite easy to scoop this stuff out of the tub, and I found a small amount to spread over a lot of hair. I used about two small scoops over my hair, which is quite thick and was pretty long at the time. I found it best to use this after shampooing and conditioning the hair. Apply as much as you need to evenly coat your hair, when it is still damp after rinsing your conditioner. I then wrap my hair in a towel and leave it on my hair for about 20 minutes. The towel keeps the heat in your hair, which opens up the cuticules and allows the mask to penetrate deeper into the hair, thus creating a better result and more care for your hair.
I was surprised at easily this rinses out of the hair, especially as it is such a thick mask. It took just as lomg to rinse this as my usual conditioner, so I was happy and surprised with this. As soon as I had rinsed the mask out of my hair, I could feel instantly that my hair was in a better conditon, and even when wet it looked smoother and healthier. After drying, the results could truly be seen, and wow did my hair look even better. The hair was now conditioned, smooth, shiny and soft, where it had been dry and coarse before washing. Even my scalp felt moisturised and calm.
I was so amazed with the results of this, that I rushed back to Sally's and bought a giant tub of it, I am never without a tub of this in my bathroom now as my hair has never looked or felt so good in my life. The results last everytime until I next wash my hair, and the scent is lovely and long lasting too. People have commented on how good my hair looks, even with the wars we still have! If it was not for this mask, my hair would not be alive - I consider this my hair doctor!
As I have said, I bought this in Sallys, but you can also buy it at Capital Hair and Beauty (or their respective websites) and it is also available on Amazon. Prices will vary from store to store and will depend on the size of the tub you are looking to buy.
I give this mask a 5 out of 5, but I wish I could give it so much more.
I recently bleached my hair from dark brown back to blonde using four applications of 12% peroxide which left my hair in a very poor and unmanageable condition. I went to Sally's Salon Services and asked the girl working there if there was anything she would recommend to help me get my hair back to a brushable, straightenable state again. She pointed out Osmo Intensive Deep Repair Mask, which was on sale for the fantastic price of £1.99 for 100 mls.
That night I washed my hair over the bath, towel dried it a little and put a handful of the mask through my hair. It is a lot thicker than other repair masks I have tried (I normally buy the ones in sachets) but still easy to apply. I then tied it up into a high bun and left it on for around 3 hours while I tidied up, went on computer etc. The repair mask has a lovely smell and it lingers on your hair for ages!
When it came to washing it off i did notice it was harder to rinse out than my usual conditioner but my hair felt extremely silky! I blow dried my hair and immediately noticed less frizz and healthier shinier hair. For the first time in weeks I was actually able to straighten my hair properly!
I have continued to use this at least once a week, leaving it on for around 1-2 hours and I can honestly say the product works wonders. It should be available in Boots etc instead of just Sally's and salons. I recommend to every girl with damaged/bleached/over-straightened hair.
Generally a fantastic product with a great price tag!
Due to over colouring, straightening and worst of all, over-bleaching, my hair has become in the worst condition ever. Really porous, like cotton wool, stretchy, frazzled and like sand.
I've tried every product out there, including the "Aussie Miracle Three Minute Re-constructor" which everyone claims to be an actual miracle. It did nothing. I've tried hot oil treatments, avocado treatments and the list goes on.
However whilst searching the internet for one last solution before i probably shaved my hair off altogether, i discovered this "Osmo Essence Intensive Deep Repair Mask" purely because the reviews were so amazing. These people were all in the same situation as me. So i thought i'd buy a small pot from ebay (a VERY reasonable price as well for what it is).
So i applied this to my hair after shampooing, left it on for about 20 minutes and washed it off.
The texture is great, smell is nice, but i dont really care about any of this, its irrelevant. The product could be smelling like cow pat and in a cardboard box. As long as it gets my hair back to normal.
So i blow dried my hair as usual, expecting to see the knotty, frazzled mess it usually is. But no, my hair was.......gorgeous! It was manageable, soft, de-tangled and actually looked and felt stronger!
After twice weekly treatments of this product, my bleached blonde hair looks how i want it to look. What an amazing product. Well done Osmo - never heard of you before but i will be buying some more of your products!!!
Well what can I say about Osmo Essence Mask, its Fab! I'm a hairdressser and after years of trying to find something that would sort out my over processed frizzy out of control Hair I found this at My local Sally Service supplies shop and I havent looked back since! We now also stock this item and retail it too customers as its cheap, last a while and does wonder for the Hair!
To use, pre wash hair with moisturising shampoo then towel dry and use a table spoons worth and spread through your hair from roots to tip, it is also handy to comb your hair, as this will make sure its evenly spread throughout. I then pop on a shower hat (or cling film works wonder!) and get on with house work if ive got time, it is ideal, to leave it as long as poss! make sure you rinse your hair well after as its very thick and can take a while to run clean. My hair is veyr dry but my roots end up very greasy, if this is your problem aswell then I would suggest you give you hair a light shampoo after rinsing the conditioner out if going out!
I cannot rate this product enough, it does wonders!!
Osmo Essence - Intensive Deep Repair Mask
**WHAT IT IS**
It is a deep treatment, which will nourish and restore your hair by balancing the moisture and elasticity. It is specially formulated for over-stressed, heat traumatised and chemically treated hair.
So if your hair is in bad condition with split ends and just isn't in good condition then this is the treatment for you. It claims to leave your hair silky, healthy and easy to style.
It comes in a round tub, which is see-through, so you can see the cream coloured treatment inside. The tub is made out of plastic and is very durable. It has a screw on lid which is easy removed however if you are like myself you will probably drop it when you are trying to open it after you have washed your hair as you haven't dried your hands.
On the front is has the Osmo Essence logo in big black and silver writing. It also gives your brief details about the product in black writing. The front of the packaging isn't overly attractive or fancy but it does the job, as you know what it is.
The back has the Osmo Essence logo again in small writing and it gives you details about the product in different languages.
Aqua (water), Cetearly Alcohol, Cetrimonium Chloride, Paraffinum Liquidum (Mineral Oil), Oetrolatum, Lanolin Alchool, Panthenol, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba Seed Oil), Pogostemon cabln (Patchouli Oil), Cananga odorata (Ylang Ylang Extract) Parfum (Frangrance), Lauramine Oxide, Benzyl Benzoate, Limonene, Phenoxyethanol, Methyparaben, Butylparabean, Ethylparabea, Isobutylparabean, Propylparabea, Cl 19140 (FD & Yello No5), Cl 14700 (FD & C Red No4), Cl 17200 (D&C Red No33), Cl42090 (FD&C Blue No1)
This may be useful if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
Jojoba provides a rich source of vitamins to hydrate damaged hair.
The treatment itself is thick in consistency a lot thicker than a conditioner. If you put a blob on your hair it was just sit there and not run off. The smell of it is rather strong but it is a pleasant smell but it is perfumed slightly
HOW TO USE - Once you have washed and towel dried your hair put the treatment in paying particular attention to the roots. Make sure you have massaged it through your hair thoroughly.
It says to leave it in for 3-5 minutes. I tend to leave it in longer as I feel I get better results for my hair. I have very dry hair so maybe this is why I need to leave it in for about half an hour.
It says on the tub if your hair is severely damaged keep it in for 7-10 minutes. When washing off rinse with warm water making sure you remove all the treatment. If you don't it could leave your hair greasy.
I find that this treatment is one of the best that I have ever used. It leaves my very damaged hair feeling soft. I don't use it every day as it leaves my hair feeling heavy and it will get greasier quicker. Instead I use it about once a week and find that this is enough to keep my hair in good condition.
After I use the treatment my hair seems to be in better condition, it is more manageable and has a shine from it. Overall it makes my hair look healthier.
I got the 100ml size on offer for £1 in Sallys which is why I decided to try it out. I feel that this is excellent value for money as it lasts me a while as I don't tend to put a lot of the conditioner into my hair at any one time.
I would recommend that everyone try this treatment even if it is only for a treat!

** MY OPINION **
I am a hairdresser and i am a huge fan of the Osmo products.
They are always good value and always leave my customers hair feeling fantastic.
I use the intensive repair mask as part of my deep intensive treatment routines.
I apply the mask by sectioning the hair and using a tinting brush to thoroughly cover the hair.
The client will then receive a scalp massage and be popped under the hood drier for extra heat.
My clients hair is always left fantastic and i always manage to persuade them to buy a tub too.
I wouldn't recommend using this every day as it can end up leaving the hair with a greasy build up. But try to use it one or twice a month or if you hair is in really really bad condition try using it once a week.
My hair has been coloured and chemically straightened for years and i use this product myself when i cant afford the usual product i use (£20 a go haha) and it does the job and always leaves my hair feeling soft.
For the price the product is fantastic and does exactly what it says on the tub.
It also smells amazing and will leave your hair smelling fabulous too.
Give it a go!
I currently work in a salon at the moment and after trying a few different treatment products on clients we finally found the one that we all loved and that was osmo essence intensive deep repair mask. Osmo essence is a deep nourishing treatment that helps restore moisture to dry and damaged hair. The treatment contains jojoba which is promised to hydrate even the most severely damaged of hair. It also creates a high shine and healthy appearance to parched hair. After just one application the treatment promises to make hair easier to manage and smooth split ends to make the hair appear less damaged as it helps to repair it.
Another ingredient in the mask is panthenol which can penetrate deep into the hair shaft to begin repairing from the inside. This also helps to prevent split ends and adds strength to the hair.
Conditioning treatments are great to use on the hair and I would recommend using a good one such as osmo once a week. It is also important to use your usual conditioner every time you shampoo however, standard conditioner tends to only coat the hair where as a deep treatment or mask with penetrate deep into the hair to repair inside too.
I have lately change my hair a lot going from black and shocking red to light brown with blonde highlights. In order to do this I had to bleach my hair a lot of times and also use toners. Bleach is the worst product to use as it dries hair out and damages it to the point of snapping if used to often. My hair was extremely dry and at first I regretted changing to blonde as my hair looked frizzy and dry and basically horrible. I had lost all of my shine and health and I was very disappointed so when we ordered the osmo essence deep repair mask I decided I would give it a go and see if it could help.
The treatment comes in a big clear tub which advises that the product is specially formulated for over-stressed, heat traumatised and chemically treated hair. It sounded perfect for me. The conditioner actually has a pleasant smell which reminds me mildly of coconuts. The constituency is very thick and very creamy, it feels luxurious and smooth. I applied the treatment all over my hair as advised on the tub and decided to leave on for 30 minutes, this is longer than advised but it can't do any harm leaving it on a little extra time. You can just use this for 3 minutes if you are in a rush but longer is requested the more damaged the hair is. By using a hairdryer on the hair or sitting in the sun while the treatment is on will intensify the results. If you are having a sunny holiday this year I would recommend sitting with osmo on around the pool, the treatment will fade in with the sun so no one will see and it will provide and amazing treatment activated by the heat.
The treatment is easy to rinse out which I was quite surprised at considering it was so thick when applying. As soon as I started rinsing i felt my hair was soft with no tats in sight, I can usually feel the dry ends while I am shampooing but they felt smoothed. My hair was easy to comb and I blow dried with no effort at all. I was so happy once I had finished drying when I seen a fabulous shine to my hair, the ends were sealed and appeared a lot less damaged. I have continued to use this treatment for a few weeks now once a week and I am very impressed with it, it really does exactly what it says on the tub and to me it is a miracle product.
This product can be ordered online ranging from 100ml -£4.00, 250ml- £7.00 and finally 250ml+ can range anything up to £30.00. It is worth checking a few different sites for the best prices. You will also be able to go into your local hairdressers and they should be able to order some of this in for you from there wholesalers.
I would definitely recommend this product as it is just simply fantastic.
I am also on the hunt for a nice little shine treatment to use in between this one and will be trying Avon's Greek mask to review very soon...

This product comes in two different sizes, 250ml and 1000ml (1L).
It is designed for over stressed, heat and chemically treated hair. It contains Jojoba, which is rich in nutrients and vitamins, which your hair needs to be strong and healthy. This product also helps to restore moisture and balance to the hair, while improving elasticity.
anti-oxidant properties help with everyday stress to the hair. Keeping it soft, strong and manageable.
~Where to buy and Price of Product~
You can buy this product from a salon near you who stock Osmo or you an find it on the Internet.
As it is a salon product you would expect it to be expensive but its not. For a 250ml pot your looking at around £2.15 and for 1L your looking at around £6.75. You maybe able to get it cheaper if you look around some more.
For this price you can't go wrong.
The actual product is cream in colour and looks like a thick cream. You can smell jojoba when you take the lid off.
Both sizes come in a clear plastic pot. It has a screw top lit for easy access.
The front of the pot reads "Specially formulated for over-stressed, heat traumatised and chemically treated hair".
The back reads "Deep nourishing treatment to restore the moisture balance and elasticity. Jojoba provides a rich source of vitamins to hydrate even severally damaged hair. Leaves hair feeling silky, healthy and easy to style.
Directions: Apply to towel dried hair from roots to ends. Leave for 3-5 minutes. For severely damaged hair allow an extra 7-10 minutes before rinsing with warm water. Added heat will intensify treatment.
I use salon size GHD's a lot so my hair is damaged from the heat. I don't use a lot of styling products so I am okay there but I am worried what my straightens do to my hair and of course life in general and pollution.
My hair is think, wavy, frizzy mess if I leave to dry naturally so my GHD's are my life.
Normally I use a more expensive deep repair mask but this is getting a little expensive and for how much you get its costing a small fortune.
I saw Osmo on a site and I thought I would give it ago, after all the 250ml pot wasn't that expensive and I thought what do I have to lose?
It said on the back to apply to towel dried hair. Normally I apply my mask to dry hair, leave for as long as I want and wash off, so this was a different way for me.
Anyways I did what they said but I like to leave a mask on longer than the directions say as you get more of a treatment. So I left it on for half on hour.
Simply towel dry your hair and comb it though with a wide tooth comb making sure there is no knots etc. Apply the mask from root to tip covering the whole head. Take a wide tooth comb and comb through your hair. This ensures the product is eventually distributed.
Leave on as long as you wish and wash through thoroughly until the water runs clear. Then style as usual.
As I was rinsing the product out of my hair I felt my hair was so soft it was lovely. When I had finishing styling my hair, blow dry and then straighten it was shiny, so soft and manageable. I loved it. To say I used to buy a more expensive product and I found this, I will be sticking with this one for a long time.
~Would I buy again?~
Of course, brilliant.
