Advantages: good design, easy to use, nice & thick, leaves hair shiny
Disadvantages: can't read what's in it & shampoo left my hair static & with a 'film'
I saw this bright green bottle of Palmolive Naturals Shampoo for just a quid at one of our local pound shops so decided to give it a go as I've always been pleased with Palmplive products.
This shampoo states that it gives a 'silky shine effect' & claims to give 'up to 3 times smoother hair'. As all four of us wash our hair on a daily basis I thought it seemed a pretty good buy especially if it lived up to it's promises.
The sturdy plastic bottle is a generous 400ml & it's easy to use as much or as little as you need due to it's good design. It has a flip-open/shut lid & the hole os a good size & doesn't gunge up.
The smell is rather strong when you open the lid but soon calms down when the hair is rinsed - it's not unpleasant - just a bit of a shock! I can't really describe the smell as the ingredients are so very difficult to read as they're in tiny white print. On the front it's telling me it contains aloe vera but I didn't think that this had much smell? It smells kind of fruity & citrusy but rather chemical-smelling as well.
It contains silk proteins according to the writing on the front of the bottle & there's a picture of an aloe vera plant.
The shampoo itself is quite thick & lathers well but needs a fair bit of rinsing to remove it all from the hair. It left my hair feeling very clean & I was able to comb it through wet without any problem.
When my hair was dry it looked nice & shiny but no more than when I use other shampoos.
The thing I didn't like about it is the 'film' it seems to leave on my hair & my hair seemed more static than usual. But it did feel soft despite the film.
I'm not sure I'd ever buy it at full price - my daughters both used it but didn't comment on it (either good/bad) & didn't ask me to buy the same again.
summary
~
- initially strong-smelling - but this fades when shampooed out.
- good thick shampoo but needs a lot of rinsing.
- leaves hair feeling & looking clean & shiny (but we all have shiny hair anyway).
- didn't like the 'film' or 'coating' it left on my hair.
- ingredients & directions really difficult to read because of tiny print.
Summary: not the best shampoo in the world for our family

- 15/04/09 The older I get the smaller that print becomes but they do say things shrink with age! |
