Advantages: An effective product at a reasonable price
Disadvantages: Aroma could have been a little stronger
It was approximately six weeks ago that I reviewed the shampoo from this range and asked if anyone could kindly advise me on where I could purchase the matching conditioner. I couldn't believe it when I walked into our local Poundland some two days later and found both the shampoo and matching conditioner on the shelf. Consequently, half a dozen of each ended up in my basket. To be totally honest with you I am of the opinion that the conditioner was available at the time I initially purchased the shampoo, but as the two bottles are almost identical in appearance I think I wrongly presumed it to be shampoo.
If you read my previous review you will be aware that I absolutely adore the shampoo, so I was thrilled to obtain several 300ml bottles of the matching conditioner and this review discusses my experience of using Palmolive Naturals Conditioner Milk and Honey, a product manufactured by Colgate-Palmolive.
If you are familiar with the shampoo you will be aware that it is presented to us in a bright yellow plastic bottle. Whilst the shampoo is provided in a container with a flip top lid the conditioner sits neatly on its' sturdy flip top lid, which is a huge positive, particularly as there's no frantic squeezing when you come towards the end of the bottle.
The familiar Palmolive logo is situated in the upper section and located below is an image of both milk and runny golden honey being poured. I specifically chose this product as I adore the Palmolive range having previously purchased a different fragrance and due to the fact that my hair is somewhat dry due to excessive use of both hair colorants and styling aids. We are informed that this product contains milk proteins and honey extract.
On the rear of the bottle we are advised that this creamy Milk and Honey conditioner will nourish hair from root to tip, as it has been formulated to smooth the surface of the hair leaving it soft and easy to comb. As my hair is long, thick and curly it is essential that I condition after every shampoo, as otherwise I will end up with an extremely knotted mess.
Consequently, I proceeded with my hair wash in the shower using the matching shampoo and applied a fairly large blob of conditioner whilst paying particular attention to the ends. Its' consistency is fairly thick and the white cream was easily applied to my hair. The conditioner dispensed very easily from the good opening and I am pleased to report that the lid closed perfectly once used and was not at all flimsy. I say this because I have purchased many hair products in the past where the lid will not shut and has subsequently snapped off. I then washed my body whilst waiting for the conditioner to work its' magic.
If you read my previous review you will be aware that I was absolutely taken back by the delightful fragrance of the shampoo, which reminded me of something my Mum used on my hair when I was a child. Whilst the conditioner smells somewhat similar I was a little disappointed that its' aroma is very subtle in comparison. However, if you are using the conditioner after having used the same fragrance shampoo you are simply topping up the gorgeous aroma.
Although we are given no directions for use other than to massage into wet hair and rinse I waited five minutes before removing the product, which washed out extremely quickly. I proceeded to rinse under the hot shower head until my hair felt squeaky clean and I stepped out of the shower and towel dried my hair.
My comb easily brushed through my locks with no difficulty whatsoever and my hair smelled absolutely delightful. I find this fragrance very difficult to describe, particularly as it does not actually smell of honey. I would say that it has a very slight floral aroma, which would be suited to both sexes and in my opinion it is extremely pleasant and refreshing.
My hair felt soft and smooth and styled without much difficulty and I am pleased to report that there were no fluffy sections, something that occurs if I do not apply a good quality conditioner. I genuinely feel that this is a good quality product and is very caring and effective.
The product should be used within 12 months of opening and the bottle can be recycled once empty. If you are interested in purchasing Palmolive Naturals Conditioner Milk and Honey I would advise that I was fortunate enough to purchase mine from Poundland for guess how much? Correct - £1. As we are all aware, stores such as Poundland carry specific lines for only a short period of time, so as previously stated, I bulk purchased.
I cannot recommend this product highly enough due to its' high quality and superb results. However, it loses one star from me due to its' subtle fragrance, particularly as I was expecting its' aroma to mirror that of the shampoo. However, for just £1 for a 300ml bottle it is excellent value for money.
I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
Summary: A superb conditioner from Palmolive
