Advantages: Cleans hair properly, Leaves hair light and clear, Different size bottles
Disadvantages: May over strip the hair (this can be solved by using conditioner)
Having the kind of hair that needs washing every 12 hours, it's safe to say that I've tried nearly every type of shampoo ever evented in the last ten years and have become some kind of expert by default because of this. Now, I have extremely annoying hair that gets greasy very quickly, a problem that I've had since hitting the teen years. At first I was just using whatever was in the bathroom cabinet, but soon moved on to the likes of the original Fruitus range when that first came out. This worked well for about a year until the build up continued to get worst. Next I tried the Fruitus for Greasy hair, then Neutrogena Clean and Clear, then Sunsilk, then back to the Neutrogena, then to Garnier for greasy hair....the list goes on and on, until I discovered the Pantene range. I first noticed this product on the telly on night with its rather appealing advert (don't say that television advertising doesn't work). The thing that caught my eye was the fact that the shampoo is clear, and in my experience, clear shampoos' work better than the cream or white coloured one (this is just probably me). I didn't think much of it until I was in Tesco one day looking for some toiletries that I noticed it. There are two sizes, the larger 400ml and the smaller 250ml. I quickly snapped up the smaller bottle for about £1.50 as I only wanted to try it, and if it didn't work then I wouldn't be left with loads of unwanted shampoo. :::: The Look :::: This shampoo is called Pantene Pro-V Clarifying Shampoo. It comes in a transparent, tall bottle which has the slightest of blue hues about it. This means that you can see through the shampoo (as mentioned this is also clear) and see how much is left. The lid is made of white plastic which has a little metallic glow about it. The top of the lid is flat and has a grey, thin band around the top. In the centre of the lid is the Pro-V logo embossed into the plastic. The label at the fro
nt is very plain and simple. Made of clear plastic with the products name, claims (Pure, natural shine. Removes daily impurities & build-up for normal to greasy hair) and a small Pro-V logo. The design is very pleasing to the eye as it isn't cluttered and is straight to the point. The back of the bottle is a little more detailed. The label is silver instead of clear which is better to see all the information. At the top is the now classic Pantene user guide. On all its hair care products Pantene has printed A 'You Have' and 'You Want' statement which is ideal to find out what product you want. In this case it has You have: Hair that suffers from everyday build up or styling residues. You want: Everyday completely clean and health looking hair. Under this is two little diagrams on how the Pro-V (vitamin) technology works by nourishing from the root to the tip of the hair (honestly, I don?t work for them; I?m just reading this off the bottle!). Under this are the usual directions for use, customer care phone numbers, web address and ingredients. :::: Using it :::: The first time I used this was a real eye opener. Once my hair was dry it felt so light and clean. Depending on the length of your hair, the amount that you use varies. I have long hair which means that I need to use about two 'fifty pence piece' worth. It foams up really well into a healthy lather that covers the whole of my hair. Now, the good thing that I've found is that when rinsing, the bubbles are really easy to get rid of and do dissipate easily even if you do rinse in the bath. Unlike other shampoos, I don't feel like I need to spend ages continually rinsing and rinsing. :::: Anything Else? :::: My hair really does feel cleaner and clearer (cliché I know) after use, and even after four months of use, it still seems to do wonders for my hair, by cleaning thoroughly. Unlike other shampoo's that
I've tried, this one hasn't started to leave residue yet, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed. However, saying this I do have to admit to the use of Pantene Classic Care conditioner (A separate review is worthy of this I think), due to my hair getting too long and becoming easily knotted. I do believe that this Clarifying Shampoo has a sister conditioner especially designed for people who suffer from build up, but I have yet to find this in my usual supermarket, and keep forgetting to look for it when out elsewhere. Saying this though, I do believe that something like conditioner is needed, even for the greasiest of hair as this shampoo does seem to strip the hair after continued use. Even using conditioner just once a week, only on the ends of your locks should prevent this and keep your hair silkly smooth. Now the boring stuff. This product can be found in nearly every shop, supermarket etc... Its price does vary shop from shop, but I found the 400ml bottle in Tesco for £2.68. But, I got it on offer of two for £4, buying the shampoo and the conditioner. It's really good value for money even if it isn't on offer as it works properly every time it's used and you do get 400ml in the larger size. Also having two sizes is a blessing as it means that you can get a small one for travelling or if you only want to try it out, while the larger one is great for value for money and lasts a bloody long time. The shape of the lid also means that when on the last drop, you can stand it upside down to drain it completely. This may seem like a silly thing, but think of the times when you've had to balance a bottle up against the bathroom wall. :::: Conclusion :::: If like me you suffer from the somewhat embarrassing problem of greasy hair, or are a hairstyling product addict, I would strongly suggest that you use this shampoo to rid yourself of all the hair nasties. Its average priced for a shampoo, comes it two very useful s
izes, has a flat lid for tight people like me and actually does what it claims to do, what more could you want?
