Advantages: Fresher smell than most, reasonable price, nice container

Disadvantages: Does not brush out; leaves greasy hair the nest day; there are better products out there; does it coat your hair in plastic type ingredients???

I remember when "Pantene" was launched onto the market, we all went wild for it, they did I have to agree sell very nice scented products. Then there were all the rumours of the shampoo coating your hair in plastic type ingredients and yes, from experience my hair did go a little strange after a while and consequently the "Pantene" popularity fell somewhat.

At the end of last year "Pantene" relaunched all their hair care products and it just coincided with the time that I was buying a new hairspray. Not using hairspray all the time it had been quite a while since I browsed what was on offer and I decided to leave my trusty "L'oreal Elnett" on the shelf and try the "Pantene Firm Hold Hairspray" as it was on special offer. Surely that couldn't coat your hair with plastic too???

The hairspray is in a creamy colour spray can and is one of the more glamourous of all the hairsprays on the shelf. Although it has to be said will never match the glaring gold container of "Elnett"!!

"Pantene Firm Hold Hairspray" actually claims to provide firm hold for styled hair so that it looks so healthy that it shines. It contains 2 ingredients that they say make it unique. Firstly, Elastesse stretchy holding bonds that help prevent damage whilst styling and then Pro Vitamin B5 which penetrates the thus nourishes the hair. So, how does it live up to these claims?

The hairspray itself cannot escape the traditional awful hairspray scent, however once applied and that has wafted away there is something quite fresh and nice about it. The scent is definitely more modern than that of "Elnett" and I presume is aimed at a younger audience.

Now for the real test, how long did It hold my hair?? I have long flyaway hair that doesn't stay in place very easily, so if it holds my hair the chances are it will suit most other peoples needs. I usually only wear my ha
ir in styles that require hairspray at night and this tends to be in clubs and bars where it is hot and hairsprays really need to be hard wearing. After testing this product on a fair few occassions now I have been really happy with the result. I would advise a few coats though to really ensure hair stays in place.

Pantene hairspray also claims to be non sticky and sure enough when I wore my hair out it felt firm and in place but not greasy or sticky. I was unsure as to whether it was any more shiny than normal, the jury is still out on that one so to speak!

The real downside that I have discovered to this product is that it makes my hair really greasy in the mornings. There is no way at all that I could consider going out without washing my hair first. This is not the kind of product you can just brush through and go, even though that is one of its claims.

At £2.49 this is an average priced hairspray and I have to be honest it is an average product. Although I have said that I would recommend it, I say this because it does it's job, however, I think I will be sticking to my Elnett from now on.
