Advantages: Smells nice, good lather, nice bottle, works well on my hair
Disadvantages: Possible the price if it is not on offer and the brand was for me!
I have always had problems with Pantene and it is the only shampoo and conditioner that I avoid. The shampoo has always made my hair knotty and it seems to create tangles. I have tried some different varieties and types but they have always made my hair look and feel horrible. I popped to my local boot to grab a bargain in the sales and came across some nice looking shampoo. It was no offer at £2 for 400 ml, which I thought, was great value. The bottle was clear with clear liquid inside so I decided because of the price and the fact it looked like a good product I would try it. I grabbed a bottle off the display on the end of a row and bought some. I was so disappointed when I got home and read the label to discover it was Pantene as it always comes in white bottles so this had thrown me completely.
I though about returning the items to boots but then decided to give it a go for the price and if it was horrid on my hair, I could try it on my daughters, as her hair is completely different to mine.
This Pantene is Pro-v Ice shine Shampoo and the bottle states it is for brilliant shine and sparkle for use on dull and tired hair. The bottle is clear and the shampoo is also clear which always makes me think the product is natural which is not the case as it is stuffed full of chemicals like most shampoos.
The shampoo has a pleasant smell, which was not to strong. It was mild on my hair, skin and eyes no stinging or skin rashes. I had a shower got my hair wet and popped a small amount onto my hands. I rubbed it into my hair and was quite surprised with the amount of lather it produced as this was part of the problem I had with Pantene was that is didn't lather or rinse out but this one was different. I was very impressed with the way the shampoo lathered and worked through my hair. I then stepped back under the shower to rinse the shampoo out. Rinsing the shampoo clean out of my hair was a bit more time consuming then my usual shampoo I would say it took a few minutes longer under the running water but if I had used the bath this could have been a problem. My hair still felt nice and my hairs moved through it freely without being knotted up. I used my normal conditioner and dried as usual.
Once my hair was dry, I brushed it in the same way as I usually do and the comb moved through my hair freely. There were no knots or tangles. My hair looks fine, shiny and healthy. This shampoo seems to be fine for my hair but I am guessing that does not mean it will be okay for everyone. Some shampoos and conditioners make my hair feel horrible and I am unable to run my hands through it without meeting knots but luckily, this one was fine. To be honest in my mind this shampoo was a failure because of the brand but I am glad I gave it a fair go as it has been find on my hair. I would even buy this shampoo again in the future if the price were right!
The label does suggest that this shampoo is used with Pantene Ice shine conditioner and Pantene Ice shine serum, which I have not bought and could not possible comment on. However if the conditioner appeared for the right price I would give it ago!
Summary: Pantene as you have never known it before!
