Advantages: It leaves hair clean

Disadvantages: perhaps not quite as good as separates

I am always suspect about two in one shampoos, can you really get the same results as a separate shampoo and conditioner? My hairdresser informed me that a two in one does not do the same job and you will not reap the rewards. Pantene is however a trusted name in the shampoo range and their products sell very well.

Packaging:

The shampoo comes in a plastic bottle with an easy to open flip top lid, it clips shut tightly so no fear of spillage incase you knock it over while in the shower. It also stands up well and is durable.

Texture of shampoo:

Comes out in a smooth white gloopy form. It is rather like a shower gel with a greater density. The shampoo lathers well, so I would recommend a blob no more than a ten pence piece to work through the hair.

The smell:

A subtle fagrance, no underlying smell to pinpoint, just fresh and slightly soapy.

The test:

It does lather in really well and you can feel it cleaning as you work it over the scalp. There is a sufficient amount of frothing from the lather and it really feels like it is working hard to penetrate the hair shafts. I follow with a rinse with warm water, then cooler water to seal the hair shaft.

Afterwards the hair feels revived and clean, there is no residue and it does not weigh the hair down. A blow dry follows and the results are not bad. It has left the hair feeling soft and clean with a little bit of bounce.

Better than a separate conditioner and shampoo?

I am undecided on this one, I could not tell a huge amount of difference, but as a hair purist, I still like the idea of doing each one separately to ensure I get the best result. This product is useful though for holidays, quick washes and people who are are in a hurry.

Expect to pay around £2.50 for a bottle, readily available in most supermarkets.

Summary: not bad

I don't trust the claims of 2 in 1.
