Advantages: Cheap

Disadvantages: Ineffective, leaves hair with a horrid texture

My first choice for shampoos and conditioners will always be Pantene Pro-V. Before my hair turned curly I found the curl shampoo and conditioner to be the best. I think it is due to the combination of the products having to be rich enough to nourish frizzy hair, whilst remaining light enough to give curls their bounce and as a result gives the best of both worlds to all hair types.

Therefore when I began to use products to enhance my natural, albeit rather limp, curl I first of all turned to Pantene pro-v.

However I must confess I was deeply disappointed. It seems that Pantene pro-v's crown lies only with washing and they rely on their prestige to mask a range of inferior styling products.

The curl creating spray did give slightly more prominent curls but it required several long minutes of scrunching the hair before any result could be seen. However I found the product to be sticky, even in small amounts and therefore the curls created were not defined but the cohesive hair stuck together in a haze.

This stickiness quickly turned crispy as hair dried and this made playfully running hands through hair a rather uncomfortable process due to the hand becoming entangled and even the pleasure of stroking hair was denied as is denied.

If this product is used i recommend using it on sopping wet hair, not towel-dried to dilute the product. However all the negative effects can be avoided by simply giving the product a wide berth.

If your heart still lies with Pantene pro-v instead opt for the curl crème. This is richer and leaves hair feeling nourished but is hazardous for those with fine and limp hair.

The best deal for all Pantene pro-v styling products can be found in Superdrug stores where they are 2 for £4.19, a permanent deal very close to being buy one get one free as an individual product costs £3.99.

However don't be tempted by these low prices, remember that they have better prices to compete with better products. Another big giveaway for their inaptitude is the above models gorgeous tresses created with low budget products. Remember if a product looks too good to be true, it probably is.

Summary: How could such a good brand make something so appalling?
