Pantene Pro-V Hair Repair Treatment

Advantages: makes hair feel lightweight, smooth. Smells nice

Disadvantages: Can be pricey, best to find it on offer

Judging my previous reviews, I'm sure you'd be surprised to find there was a hair treatment I haven't tried. I have recently changed my hair products, ditching colour protectants to repair and protect products. This is because my colour went too dark and the last thing I wanted was to prolong the shade. I also wanted the shine and gloss back into my hair.

For those who don't know, a hair masque is an extra treat you can give your hair, in addition to conditioner. Many experts suggest a treatment at least once a week, but for the last few years I have used a treatment after every wash, as it really does benefit my hair. If you buy a good quality mask that suits your hair needs, your hair should be able to take it no problem without there being any build-up. Just give a good rinse afterwards, as you would do with conditioner.

I had tried the sachet of this particular Masque, the Patene Spa Inspired Care Repair & Protect masque - a few weeks ago and was most impressed with the results, so decided to splurge on the real thing, a 200ml sized pot of it costing £4.07. (It is now on offer for an incredible £1.99 at Superdrug!!). I unfortunately bought it before this offer, and £4 is generally the maximum I would be prepared to spend on a hair masque, unless it was for a special occasion or extra special treat.

The packaging is quite sleek - a navy blue lid, white tub with gold and white writing. It certainly looks posh on our bathroom shelf. But, is it any good?

The Claims:

"Instantly restore the look of health to your damaged, tired hair with this rich, luxurious treatment".

After shampoo and conditioner, I apply this throughout my hair and leave for a few minutes before rinsing off. The smell is quite pleasant - it reminds me of lilies, but with a classic conditioner mixed in. Not too overbearing, just pleasant and fragrant enough. 200ml might not sound like a lot, but you really don't need too much of this product as it glides through the hair easily. For a professional touch you could use a wide toothcomb and comb the product through (as they do in my hairdressers) and leave it. The longer you leave it, the better the results.

I always consider a good hair masque to be one which instantly changes the weight of my hair - making it feel ultra light is a good sign of quality and this masque does just that. I instantly notice the difference in how my hair feels, before I've even rinsed the masque off. Even though my hair is still wet, it looks like it has been given a boost and I can see the shine.

When I have rinsed it all off and I've finished drying my hair, I really notice the difference. My hair is really easy to run my hands through - there are no knots and barely any flyaways. The end result is really smooth, wonderfully smelling hair. I would also say it's improve it's glossyness too, which I've found is not as easy to achieve on brunette hair as it is with blonde hair.

Through research I found this masque is just one of five treatments that are available in the Repair & Protect range. I would strongly recommend this product/range to anyone whose hair is lacking smoothness and needs a little tlc to repair any damaged ends. I haven't used Pantene before using this masque, but it actually makes me consider switching to them as I have been really impressed with this product.

I would say this product is one of the top 5 hair masques I have ever used - certainly one of the best for under a fiver. If you can get it whilst it is onsale in Superdrug then I'd say it's an absolute bargain for £1.99!

Summary: A really great hair masque for under a fiver
