Advantages: Rids the hair ofstyling product build up, Cheap
Disadvantages: None
I always use hairstyling mousse on my hair to style it when I'm blow-drying it, but the trouble is it does tend to build up and leave a residue on the hair. The way I notice this is when my hair feels flat even when I've just washed it and no amount of styling aids improves the look, or texture. I used to use another clarifying shampoo - which I won't say by name in this op - but at around £4.95 it is so expensive. It did do the job briliantly, yes, but I thought the price was outrageous, so I stopped buying it. Then I was shopping in Sainsbury's last week and I came across Pantene's Pro-V Purity Clarifying shampoo. At £1.59 it is a darned sight cheaper, so I thought I would give it a go. It couldn't do my hair any harm and if it worked, then I could use that in future and forget about the other, more expensive one. Well, I used it for the first time two days ago, and I was pleasantly surprised. It felt much the same as the one I'd used previously. It had no smell, but I preferred that, as I think a perfumey smell would have given the impression that it was like any other shampoo. My hair felt literally squeaky clean when I'd finished washing it. It didn't say to leave it on for any length of time before rinsing out, but I decided to leave it on for 2 minutes anyway. As I rinsed away the last of the shampoo I felt like I was really washing away all traces of the mousse I'd been using and for the first time in a while my hair felt really good. Normal shampoos tend to leve the hair soft and manageable - sometimes too manageable for my fine hair - but this just felt....clean. I was really please that I bought this shampoo and saved myself around £3.50 in the process. I won't use it all the time as I do like my hair to smell a little perfumed with the ordinary shampoos that I use, but I will use it every month or so to get rid of excess build-up of the mousse etc.
I would definitely recommend it.

- 25/09/01 Good op. I used this before though and it really dried my scalp out, and I only used it once a week. Mind you, my hair felt nice. |
