When it comes to shampoo, I have my favourite brands but I tend to purchase a good brand that is on a good offer to save pennies where possible. I have all manner of hair issues as it is highlighted so I like a shampoo that protects my highlights, but I also have greasy roots and dry ends from too much straightening so I need a really good quality shampoo.

At present I have Pantene's Repair and Protect shampoo. I have a 500ml bottle and this generally retails around the £4.50 mark, but you can often get these products on offer so you can pay a lot less than this if you are a savvy shopper.

I have had mixed reactions with the Pantene range in the past with some faring better than others but the reason I picked this one is that the name seemed to highlight the problems I have with my hair. My hair desperately needs repairing at the ends, thanks to too many heating and styling products and my hair would probably be in better condition if it was protected from the elements and every-day life better, so I hoped this shampoo would be for me.

Obviously you don't get a miracle cure overnight with a shampoo, but I have persevered with it and am now nearly ¾ of the way down the bottle so feel I have had enough experience with the shampoo to do a review on it.

The shampoo provides a good, thorough wash in that it lathers well, rinses well and leaves my hair feeling clean and fresh. I wasn't so impressed however, with the 'repair and protect' side of things. U always use a separate conditioner anyway to help combat the dryness but the ends of my hair didn't look or feel repaired, even after using this shampoo for a good amount of time. I haven't noticed any improvement in the condition of my hair in general using this shampoo so I don't think it has done much to protect my hair either.

Really, this is ok as a general shampoo but not much else. It provides a good clean and smells quite sweet which is nice but it hasn't improved the condition of my hair at all. They do a similar one in the Dove range and the difference in quality between this shampoo and the Dove one is there to see. The Dove one cleans well, but also really makes my hair look good and feel really nourished and the ends of my hair look far less dry and feel less brittle too, but I don't get any of that with this shampoo.

Overall, this is an ok shampoo but doesn't provide any extra benefits to my hair, aside from just cleaning it. I don't really think this shampoo is worth the money you pay for it and this would probably be ok if your hair is in perfect condition and you don't need anything extra from a shampoo, but I do need extra from a shampoo and this just don't provide it unfortunately so it gets no more than 3 stars from my I'm afraid.
