I used to use Pantene all of the time and this is one of the products that I would use. I like to add some volume to my hair, especially in the winter when it tends to just look flat so it was a good product to use, however, I found that over time it stopped seeming to have any effect.
The shampoo comes in a tall bottle which is white and purple, it looks pretty cheap and I suppose that is because it is a cheap product- I bought it for £1.
The shampoo is white and very thick, it has a very slightly sticky texture to it. When applying it to my hair I don't need to use a lot as it lathers up well which makes a lot go a long way. The only issue is trying to rinse it off. It seems to stick to my hair and feels like it just isn't coming out at all.
When I blow dry my hair it does add volume and my hair looks clean but I don't like the feel of my hair, it feels coarse and heavy. Over the course of a few months the volume didn't seem to work and i don't know if it is because my hair got used to it.
I have given it 3 hearts because it still cleans my hair and it does work fine as a shampoo so is definitely not the worst but it could be so much better.
I have fine hair so Pantene's Volume and Body shampoo appealed to me with it's claim of providing twice as much volume. Experience has taught me to take this sort of promise with a healthy dose of salt, but I find my hair benefits if I switch shampoos often even if there are a few favourites I go back to, so I was open minded to give it a try. I bought my 400m bottle from Amazon for £1.84, with the site stating the rrp is £4.99. I wouldn't pay full price for the reasons I will explain below..
As well as being of a fine texture, my hair goes greasy quickly at the scalp, but has drier ends prone to splitting. I therefore wash my hair almost everyday unless I use dry shampoo.
WHAT THE SHAMPOO IS SUPPOSED TO DO
The shampoo is supposed to provide twice as much volume as "sebum treated unstyled hair", if used with the partner conditioner as I did. This seems a bit of a strange comparison - why sebum treated hair?. Anyway it is also intended to give body, shine, and hair that is protected from styling damage. It is silicone free. Furthermore my hair should look generally healthy. I only agree with some of that.
PLEASANT TO USE?
The shampoo has a pleasant fresh clean smell that is perfect for a shampoo. It reminds me of fruits and florals with no one scent being distinctive. I like the fact it lingers on the hair in a not too overpowering way, but you can detect it if you sniff the hair. The shampoo is clear and rather thick and I did wonder whether it would really provide the promised lightweight body when I saw this. I did not like the feel of the almost gel like shampoo in my hand at first. It does however lather up extremely easily so if you like this you won't need to use a lot in order to be satisfied. It feels much nicer at this point and it spreads through the hair easily too. So overall I probably use a fraction less each time than I do with other products. Thankfully the lather is quick to rinse out so I don't actually send longer doing that for all the froth.
VOLUME AND BODY?
The first few times I used this, I did definitely think my hair had a little more volume. We are not talking a huge difference, but overall there was enough added body for me to be happy with the results. I had thought I would need to use it a few times to notice any change. However the opposite is true. After using the shampoo and conditioner almost every day for around 2 weeks I noticed the volume effect was gone. I continued using it for a little longer as I still had some left. I then gave it a break and came back to use it a few weeks later. After the break the volume effect was back, but not for long. I tried using just the shampoo, and just the conditioner and to be honest, the conditioner alone produced nothing much at all in the volume stakes, and the shampoo alone was just as effective then as it had been when used with the conditioner. For that reason, I would only buy the shampoo again - typically it is the conditioner I still have left! I should also add that when I did notice my hair had more body the effect was not much apparent the next day. This is less of a problem for me as I would soon be washing my hair again but it could be disappointing for others.
I am pleased to say as a straightforward shampoo, I actually love this. As someone who has greasy scalp, I loved the fact this left my hair feeling amazingly clean and refreshed. I especially appreciated this the day after washing because normally I feel my hair looks dull and ready to be shampooed again but with this one it still looked fresh. I have usually found products for fine hair to be less good at dealing with my hair so this was a surprise.
OTHER GOOD POINTS
I would say the shampoo never weighed down my hair and it did look generally healthy and quite bouncy after each wash. There was a definite shine, more so after a few uses, and this lasts longer than the volumizing . My hair still looked glossier the next day, and it also felt softer even when I was experimenting with not using the conditioner as well. I have mentioned earlier that the scent lingers pleasantly to add to the clean feeling.
I can see no evidence of my hair being stronger or protected from damage but I do not use many styling tools and towel dry my hair as often as I can so perhaps if I was different I would notice more of a change.
I don't have sensitive skin but this didn't cause me any irritation. It does however contain parfum, as well as Sodium Laureth Sulfate and Lauryl Sulfate which will be an issue for some.
WOULD I RECOMMEND THE SHAMPOO?
The volume and body effect was modest for me as well as short lived so I wouldn't recommend this if you want strong results. You may find that your hair doesn't become immune to the effects as mine did but even so the added volume was not good for long after each shampooing. I love this as a simple shampoo for making my hair really clean, pleasantly soft and shiny but as it is marketed as a product specifically for adding volume and isn't amazing at that, I have settled on 3 stars for a rating. I would not pay £4.99 for the large bottle as I have used cheaper products that are as good for simple cleaning, which is all would use this for. It is still available for around £1.85 on Amazon though but it is an "add on" item so will only be eligible for free delivery with qualifying orders over £10. At that price, I would recommend it simply as a nice shampoo that won't weigh down fine hair.
I usually use Panetene shampoo and conditioners as I always ifnd them to be good quality. I do sometimes try other brands when they are on offer but usually find myself back with Pantene afterwards.
Pantene have a variety of hair care products and within them different ranges. I like to try different ones. I have had smooth and sleek, protect against the winter as well as this volume and body shampoo.
I bought this because I wanted to try something different and I wanted to add some life to my hair. I hoped that this would have a good effect.
The bottle is the same as other Pantene bottles but has a purple label so you can spot it against the other kinds on the shelf. It can stand upright or upside down depending upon what you would like. I have it so it is standing on it's lid so it makes getting the shampoo out easier especially when it is running out.
I use quite a small amount and rub it in well. I find a little bit goes a long way and it lathers up nicely. It is quite thick and white in colour and although it's thick it is easy enough t ocome out of the bottle with a little squeeze.
It is easy to rinse out of hair but you do need to make sure you give it a good rinse else bits can be left in. I make sure I get every bit out or it leaves my hair a bit sticky.
After blow drying my hair I notice that this does add a nice shine to my hair and it smells nice and clean. It does give it some volume, it's nothing really obvious but I can see a subtle difference.
I do really like this shampoo it's very good quality and makes my hair feel light despite giving it some volume.
I have to say that I rarely stick to one shampoo and conditioner and tend to only but whatever is on offer the time I need to re-stock and this was the only reason I purchased the Pantene Pro-V Volume and Body Shampoo & Conditioner as it was on offer in Tesco for half price which was a good sized 500 ml bottle for just over £2. The full price is around £4.50-£4.80 for this sized bottle.
The shampoo comes in a white plastic bottle with a white and gold label. This varies from the picture above as they have recently updated the bottles. The bottle is attractive as it is nice and simple, but the gold colour makes it stand out as more upmarket than you would think Pantene was. The plastic is sturdy and will not easily crack and the bottle has a nice large blue lid that dispenses the shampoo when you squeeze the bottle.
The shampoo is a clear gel consistency and lathers up quickly and easily on wet hair. I find with my long hair I need a blob about the size of a golf ball. The shampoo smells great. It has a lovely smell that has a fruit aroma, but this tends to disappear after a few hours which I find a little disappointing as I like my hair to smell nice all day.
Pantene claims that this shampoo will boost volume and body after just one use. You are instructed to lather the shampoo onto damp hair and rinse (repeat if desired). After shampooing I used the conditioner as directed and blow dried my hair as normal. Once dry I did notice that my hair looked fuller and healthier and it felt so soft I couldn't stop touching it all day! As for volume I'm not sure. As mentioned my hair did look a lot fuller but there was no more volume at the roots that I could see even after a few weeks of using it. Perhaps I was expecting a bit much!
I am still very pleased with the shampoo as my hair does look fuller and feels healthier but don't expect loads of volume.
Today, I will be reviewing one of my latest hair products; Pantene Pro-V Volume and Body. I bought my 250ml bottle of shampoo from Boots for just under £3.
Using the product is very simple; simply wet your hair, apply a 10p amount of shampoo to your hair. Lather well and rinse.
Even though I have 'silly' hair which likes to do its own thing - my hair comes under the 'normal' category; it's not dry, it's not curly and it's not flat or coloured. This shampoo gives my hair volume in a good way - it gives it oomph without making it go all over the place and also makes it manageable too which for me is great!
Despite being quite a rich product, this product does not weigh my hair down which Is good.
A lot of people have told me not to use Pantene as apparently it is the worst product you can use as it leaves a 'grease' on your hair. However, I actually like this product because it makes my hair look really good.
I like this product because it makes my hair look really healthy and shiny. Being a student and working two jobs means that I am always on the go and so my hair does get greasy quite quickly after all the running around. However, when I use this product my hair looks clean and fresh all day until I wash it again which is good.
~ * Value For Money * ~
Whilst £2.60 does seem like a lot of money to pay for a 250ml bottle of shampoo - being a student I have to watch my pennies like mad - however, I do think that this is well worth the money. I see it as a luxurious product and it lasts me about 10 washes which I think is good.
I would definitely recommend this shampoo.
