“ Brand: Pantene / Volume / Type: Hair Mousse / What it does: Smoothes, „
Price: £2.79 from boots (I think it's a similar price in Superdrugs)
I started using this product about a year ago after a friend suggested it as a way to try and keep the frizz down. Now since using it I haven't looked back.
A year ago my hair was with the best of the frizz hair, I hated it as it was wavy and none of the mousses I had found so far were for wavy hair. Then I came across this little gem whilst hunting around the big boots where my boyfriend was living and haven't looked back since.
After coming out the shower I get a little bit, say about 50p size and scrunch it through my hair. Any more than that and I notice my hair has the awful sticky feeling it when I blow dry it. I leave it in for a bout 5 minutes to let the mousse do it's job before blow drying on a low heat. Also a small amount means the bottle lasts a while (I'm still using mine 6 months and counting).
I find the finish is one of being frizz free and I get to keep my waves which is something I can't do when using my straighteners (which are good for a night out but not for work) and I also noticed my hair felt softer and smoother. I also got many more compliments from my friends who then ask the secret of how I manage my hair.
I use this product every day and noticed I don't get any build up of the product in my hair as it all comes out nicely in the wash. It's light and smells nice, not much of a chemical smell and is easy to use.
In the summer I find that my usual poker straight hair just will not work. I simply cant wear it down at straight because it ends up going majorly frizzy and/or its way to hot and my hair ends up sticking to my face - to be fair its usually the latter. So in Summer I usually try and go for the beach hair look all scrunchy and a bit curly as its proper easy to do and keeps my hair out of my face without me having to tie it up but obviously for that kind of style I need to use a LOT of mousse so a few days ago I went shopping for a new can and found this "Pantene Smooth & Sleek" in Poundland so I snapped it up straight away. Now as I dont use mousse all the time I dont really have a lot to compare this to so Ill just be reviewing this product exactly how I found it to be.
Price: Usually £3 But They Sell It In Poundland So Keep Your Eyes Peeled.
Stockists: Chemists, Supermarkets & Poundland
For: Creating styles & enhancing volume but also keeping your hair smooth, silky & sleek.
To be honest Ive never really used any of the Pantene range of products in the past so I literally had no idea what the quality of this mousse would be like - to be fair as long as it scrunches my hair and keeps it that way Im pretty happy but I reckon this one went one better than that as my hair still felt amazing when I brushed it out. Now when I use this I simply get a big blob a literally scrunch it through my whole hair, then put it all in a bobble as high as I can manage and then leave for 10 minutes. After that my hair should be wavy and a little bit messy (girls will know what I mean) and stay that way for a good few hours before I have to re-do it. And I am happy to report this one did just that. My hair looked wavy without looking like I had applied loads of product to it as in the past Ive seen people with mousse styled hair like this that I imagine would feel really sticky LOL. Luckily I didnt have that problem and it made my hair really easy to style exactly the way I wanted it and I am shocked to say it actually lasted on my hair (albeit with a tiny bit of hairspray) for pretty much the rest of the day.
Another thing I really liked about this mousse was the smell. Although I dont use it that often the ones I have used in the past have had quite a chemical scent to them but this one smells really fruity with no really strong chemical fragrance in the air so it gets a thumbs up from me on that point. Another thing I usually find is that getting mousse out of my hair is a big hassle but this one brushed up really quickly and easily and even though I did wash my hair afterwards I dont think it looked greasy or sticky at all - it actually looked sleek & smooth! So much so that Ive actually started using this on my hair when its straight - at the roots to creat a bit more volume and it works amazingly well in my opinion.
Its easy to apply, can create loads of different styles, doesnt smell horrible, it makes your style last for ages & hair even feels great when you've brushed it out. I cant think of anything wrong with it in my view and I highly recommend people try out this bargain hair mousse. Im glad I did and Ill hopefully be buying it all year round now!

Since being a teenager in the early 90's I have never considered mousse as a hair product. For me it was something that was used to shape, define and give a definite crunch to our permed hair, combined with excessive amounts of hairspray it was a miracle that those experimental cigarettes never caused our hair to catch fire.
Having firmly abandoned mousse aged 15 I never thought that it would become my essential hair product 16 years later.
I've always been lucky that my hair is very straight, but it is still prone to frizzing up and making me look like I had been dragged through a hedge backwards. As I got older and lazier I ended up tying it back all the time so I did not have to spend hours with the straighteners. Then I was convinced by my hairdresser to change to a chin length bob, it looked wonderful! Until I had to start styling it myself. The problem was the frizz, and the only was it could be dealt with was daily straightening along with a plethora of products. As I like my sleep this was causing me no end of distress.
I tried a number of so called miracle products before giving this mousse a go. Now I will not be with out it, it is the only product that makes a difference.
The mousse is described as having a strong hold and claims to convert wavy or difficult hair into a smooth flexible or shiny style. I purchased a 200ml bottle and it costs around the £3 mark but is regularly on offer. I have seen it for sale in Boots and Superdrug.
After washing and conditioning my hair I add a small blob of serum before applying a golf ball sized amount of mousse to damp hair. I use my fingers to work it through. The mousse does not feel sticky and it smoothes through the hair very easily.
When drying make sure your hairdryer is always pointing downward, I normally spend a few minutes rough drying the hair, when it is about 80% dry I begin using a brush to help smooth and shape the hair. I don't use any fancy techniques, it really is just brushing it through to finish the shape! If I can do it anyone can.
The finish is a very natural straight, frizz free look, it is not the poker straight look that you acheive with straighteners but a lovely, bouncy, natural look. My hair stays frizz free and looking good all day. The finish is smooth, shiny and not remotely sticky or crunchy.
When I want the poker straight look I will still use my straighteners, but it takes 1/2 the time to acheive the desired straightness.
I am not using any other of the smooth and sleek product range, so the whole range is not essential to the finished look, but given my experience here I think I may give them a go when they are next on offer.
In summary this is a perfect product, I have tried so many different shampoos, conditioners, serums, sprays and treatments but this is the only thing that makes a real difference. It saves time and less time with the straighteners means less damage to the hair. I could not recommend it highly enough.
