Advantages: smooths, conditioning, makes hair easier to manage

Disadvantages: bottles not big enough.

Updated 10 May 2001 - just added a few bits.

In my quest for straighter hair, as some of you will know, I've tried loads and loads of products.

When this one from Pantene appeared on the market with all it's promises of smooth and sleek hair (not to mention the short-lived guarantee that it would straighten your hair - if you blinked, you may have missed it), I was dubious ... but you know that I tried it!

While I've since given up on poker straight Jennifer Aniston style locks (and I've cut it all off), I have wavy stubborn hair that a lot of products have a hard time with controlling. It also has a tendency to be dry - hence the curls and more often, frizz.

I tried this shampoo alone, using my normal conditioner. It was straighter before it was even dry! My hair is actually in much better condition than before, softer, loads less frizzy (no frizz at all since I cut it) and STRAIGHTER!

This shampoo to me feels as creamy as the conditioner and also removes tangles better than my previous conditioner did. I use it on the kiddies and it makes brushing their hair a lot easier.

The lather isn't as large as other shampoos that I've tried, but I've no complaints about it's cleansing power. It's very thick shampoo but I have no problem spreading it over my head. It smells BEAUTIFUL - reminding me of a very much weaker version of White Musk perfume from the body shop.

Over all, despite being a cynic when it comes to the promises of hair products, Pantene have actually delivered the goods to me, my hair's natural tendencies notwithstanding. My hair will never be poker straight (and it's taken therapy to accept that, sniff) but this shampoo smooths it out to a point where it's bearable, controllable and best of all, not frizzy.

You can buy it from all supermarkets and chemists, at a price of anywhere from £1.79 upwards. The bottle sizes haven't changed,
even though the range has.
