Advantages: Smells lovely, nice consistency
Disadvantages: Didn't work on me
I have tried many different types of shampoo and conditioner over the last few years in hopes of finding something that will help control my static problem. I have long hair that is very thick and a little wild, which is why I tried this one; after all it was recommended! Firstly, let me tell you a little about the company that produces Pantene ProV. They are Proctor & Gamble and they acquired Pantene in 1985 when they took over Richardson-Vicks. A Swiss Drug Company called Hoffman-La Roche originally formulated the product in 1947. The name 'Pantene' refers to the products origins, from 'panthenol' which is another name for pro vitamin B-5. It became a scalp care product in 1948 and a conditioner was launched in 1973. Okay, history lesson over - let me tell you about my experience with Pantene ProV. Washing your hair using Pantene is very simple. The consistency is good and it didn't run between my fingers. I found it to be very economical because I didn't need to use a lot to get a good lather going. The lather rinsed out easily and I had very few tangles, which was a nice surprise. The big test would be when my hair was dry. Pantene ProV Smooth & Sleek is a special formula designed to give a polished lustrous look. It has special long lasting conditioners that 'align each strand', leaving the hair with a vibrant shine. I found it did this beautifully, my hair looked wonderfully shiny but I still had a terrible static problem so I was no better off than when I first tried it. I didn't have 'Smooth & Sleek' hair at all; in fact I'm sure it's worse than before! I've tried it a few times just to see whether the first time was a one off but it just doesn't work for me. . I looked at the website to see whether they could give me any clues as to why this doesn't work and all I discovered is that the
built in conditioners are designed to calm unruly hair so avoiding the frizz and it's gentle enough to use everyday on normal and permed or colored hair. My problem doesn?t seem to be included anywhere. Maybe I'm just unlucky! Pantene ProV is reasonably priced, I picked up a 200ml bottle for around 2 pounds and I've seen quite a few 'buy one, get one free' offers on this particular product.

- 10/09/02 Maybe you need to use a de-tangle spray like the L'oreaol kids one (or Boots imitation!) ..has de-staticked my little girl's frizz! |
