I just had to write about this shampoo because it smells heavenly and leaves your hair full of life, even if it does have a daft name.

PACKAGING

This shampoo comes in a sleek, plain white bottle with simple black lettering 'Paul Mitchell'. It is about 7 inches tall and contains 250ml of shampoo. The writing on the bottle explains that this is a body-building cleanser, a claim that is no lie.

The back of the bottle explains what Awapuhi shampoo is:

'For all hair types. Suitable for daily use. For body and shine. Replenished moisture. Excellent body wash. This ultra rich formula contains the Activated Moisturizing and Shine Blend of Hawaiian awapuhi, chamomile, henna, rosemary, aloe vera and jojoba.'

A reassuring extra is that 'John Paul Mitchell Systems does not conduct or endorse animal testing.' A quick visit to their website http://www.paulmitchell.com will confirm that they care about the environment - where possible they use recycled unbleached paper, soy-based ink and 'Bio-Pack' containers for shipping (made from unbleached, recycled fibres).

APPEARANCE OF PRODUCT

The shampoo itself is a creamy colour that could be called oyster. It is thick and foaming but easy enough to rinse out.

SMELL

This is where this shampoo really stands out. It smells amazing and the smell lingers for hours. About 4 hours after washing my hair with this product, I leant forward causing my hair to fall on my face. As I inhaled the beautiful aroma of Awapuhi floated up my nostrils. Mmm! This product smells fresh, delicate and most of all natural.

PERFORMANCE

Simply use a small blob of this shampoo and rub into your hair and scalp. It lathers easily and produces a decent amount of foam, but not so much that it takes forever to rinse it. You shouldn't need to repeat this so simply pat your hair dry and dry as usual.

The product does add body to you
r hair - my short, layered hair tends to go a bit wavy with this product due to the body it adds, but it looks good. My hair looks healthy, shiny and smells wonderful.

WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS?

Awapuhi or white ginger:
Hawaiian blossom renowned for adding shine to the hair.

Aloe Barbadensis AKA Aloe Vera:
Known for aiding skin problems, aloe vera is beneficial to the scalp.

Chamomile:
Chamomile is also used to treat allergies, as well as being used for its relaxing/soothing properties. It is often recommended that blondes wash their hair with chamomile, which is said to lighten and enhance their colour.

Henna:
Enhances the colour of brunettes' hair, as well as cooling the scalp.

Jojoba:
Pronounced hohoba, not jojoba, jojoba is nourishing and moisturising to your hair and scalp.

Rosemary:
For remembrance? No, even I can remember to rinse the shampoo out. Rosemary is a stimulating antiseptic herb so I assume this stimulates your scalp and promotes healthy hair.

At £4.99 this shampoo does not come cheap but it lasts quite long because you only need to use a small amount for each wash. You should be able to buy this product from most hairdressers or online from https://shop.hqhair.com/, where it costs £4.99 for a 250ml bottle or £7.65 for 500ml. The only problem? Asking for this by name "I'm poo-ey!" (or Awapuhi to those who can hear properly).
