“ Brand: Paul Mitchell / Type: Hair Shampoo / What it does: Cleanses, „
*This review is based on ONLY 'Shampoo One'. I was advised to write in this section though ...*
To be totally honest Ive never really bothered spending loads on shampoo. Shampoo as far as Im concerned is basically the same and has the same sort of effects on my hair regardless of brand or price so Ive never seen the point in forking out major £££'s for it. But I think you'll all agree your hair feels most amazing when youve just been for a lovely wash and cut at the hairdressers so a few weeks ago with a recent work bonus I decided to pop into my local salon and treat myself to a few of the 'higher end' products. This 'Paul Mitchell Shampoo One' was recommended to me by my stylist as this is the one she uses on my hair whenever I get it done so she said this one would suit my hair type and length better than the others - she certainly knew what she was talking about!!
Price: A 1 litre bottle (which is MASSIVE!!) will set you back around £19.
Stockists: A lot of hair salons use and stock this brand for customers & you can pick up some bargains on this one on Amazon - so shop around!!
Other Info: This comes in MANY bottle sizes 100ml, 250ml, 500ml etc for different prices. 'Shampoo One' basically promises to be easy and gentle on your hair making it easier to style and manage afterwards - which makes it perfect for coloured or long hair - both of which relate to me. It also promises to add serious shine & enhance your hairs texture and appearance. That is literally everything I need from a shampoo & this one being made for long and coloured hair suits me perfectly.
*As I said this shampoo is specifically made for people who have unmanagable/long/or coloured hair (or all of the above in my case. But there are other Paul Mitchell shampoos for other hair types, but for people with hair like mine this will work amazingly well!!*

Now normally Id have a little moan about the packaging for this because it has to be said - its pretty boring. But because the product inside is so amazing Im not going to have a rant Ill just say the basics. The shampoo comes in a very large white bottle with the brand name & product name in big black lettering on the front. At the top is the usual push down lid which is flicked up to open and seems to shut very securely when your finished using it - great for a clumsy shower-er like me!! On the back of the bottle is all the information you could need - ingredients (more on those later), shelf life (24M), directions for use, claims of the product etc and there is an address and website on the back as well should you have any more questions. The bottle is very boring to be honest but its effective, secure and easy to use which I guess is all you need from a shampoo bottle. For the price though Id have liked something a little more like the TIGI packaging!
I dont normally bother adding ingredients to reviews but when something is this pricey I think people need to know what goes into it (and what they do) -
Panthenol - Improves the surface texture of your hair.
Wheat Derived Conditioners - Improves manageability.
Henna - To ensure coloured hair doesnt fade as quickly/your colour stays vibrant for much longer.
Rosemary & Jojoba - To add extra shine.
Algae & Aloe Vera - To improve condition & texture of your hair.
So all those ingredients should help to make your hair look and feel much better, keep your colour looking brighter for longer and help improve the condition of your hair - brilliant.

Using this is pretty simple as its no different from any other shampoo - get a very small amount on to your hands (I find a 20p piece worth is more than enough and I have very long hair) and lather up onto wet hair and rise - you can repeat if you feel the need. One thing I really liked about this is you need such a tiny amount to get best results and tonnes of lather - in fact this probably lathers up better than any other shampoo Ive ever used which helps make the price a bit more justified I think. Also you dont need to spend ages washing it out either - more lather does not equal more work in this case a quick rinse and your good to go with this one. My hair actually feels really nourished as soon as Ive washed this out and sometimes I can even go without conditioner when using this which is really amazing - the results are there straight away and you can feel the benefits immediately.
The scent of this is worth mentioning I think because I reckon it is gorgeous! It is really fruity and sweet - just what Ive come to expect from salon branded products - this scent really makes me feel invigorated on those early mornings and helps make the product feel a little more expensive I think LOL. Also the scent lasts for absolutely ages on my hair (which is rare) and I can get whafts of it all day long so scent-wise I have nothing bad to say at all.

I think by now everyone will know how I feel about this shampoo - I think its amazing. Everytime I use this my hair looks and feels 1,000,000x better and like Ive just been on a trip to the hairdressers so I can definitely see the results and benefits of using this. I certainly think the overall condition of my hair has improved since using this - it feels stronger and looks much healthier and best of all in my opinion my colour seems to last much longer as well. Anyone with bright red hair will tell you the colour never lasts very long but since Ive started using this the colour definitely seems much brighter and lasts at least 2-3 weeks longer than usual. I love this shampoo and even though I never saw the point in expensive hair products before using this I dont think Ill ever go back - I can see why its so popular in hair salons. Dont worry about the price it will last a lifetime and it is 100% worth it in my opinion.
Thanks For Reading.

I love Shampoo One as someone with a number of allergies this is the only shampoo I can use recently which is gentle on my scalp. A good all purpose shampoo that smells fresh and not overloaded with fragrance. I find I only have to do one wash to get my hair squeaky clean. Its gentle to use on coloured hair and I do not feel my colour rapidly fades. The 300ml bottle lasts me a long time and I find this value for money. Although this is a salon brand it is one of the "cheaper" salon brands I have used.
I am an eBay fanatic, I don't mind telling anyone ! Late at night when I am sitting in the peace and quiet with a nice hot cup of tea I love to run through the bargains, more often than not I find something that is worth a little bid.
Paul Mitchell Shampoo Number One, 300ml for £4.45, now that has to be such a bargain, nearly £2 less than anywhere else I have seen it advertised.
Some say that shampoo is shampoo, that cut price shampoo is every bit as good as branded shampoo but I would stand my ground on this subject, when you wash your hair every day of the week then you have to use a good shampoo.
Our local hairdresser usually uses Paul Mitchell products, I have looked at them and walked past them thinking that the price tag was too hefty for my liking.
But the eBay bargain was too good to resist , click the button, accept the buy it now price and I would shortly be the owner of my very own bottle of Paul Mitchell Shampoo Number One.
A 300ml bottle may not seem very large but if you think of it as being just over a half a pint then that makes you realise that you will get a good few washes from the contents of the bottle.
Whoever has designed the bottle is spot on, the pure white plastic bottle looks fresh and clean. One of those bottles that you wouldn't mind putting on show in your bathroom !
The tall white plastic bottle holds some product information but the most outstanding part of the design is the makers name.
Paul Mitchell tells you on the packaging that the shampoo is soft and gentle, kind to all types of hair. Especially good for dedicated swimmers whose hair can be damaged by the chlorine in the swimming pool.
The shampoo is also recommended for coloured hair, I colour mine regularly and this is why the hairdresser uses this particular shampoo on my hair.
So the Paul Mitchell shampoo Number One offers a gentle formula, perfectly safe to use on coloured hair.
On the bottle it tells you that the shampoo is a blend of jojoba, henna, algae, aloe and rosemary and that all of these ingredients work together to add shine to your hair.
The shampoo also contains wheat derived conditioner and panthenol which both help to make your hair feel and look better.
The shampoo only contains mild soaps which makes it the ideal choice for everyday use.
First of all a little goes a very long way, no more that a drop makes a good lather. Whenever I am at the hairdressers I always ask her not to wash my hair twice, or it gets far too soft and then I can't manage it.
The shampoo does have a mild fragrance, maybe just a touch of citrus is identifiable. I am used to the smell and it is a fairly pleasant one. It only takes seconds to amass a good lather, the lather isn't quite as rich and creamy as some brands but it is still plentiful.
The lather is easily worked into the hair and I use a shower attachment to rinse it all out.
It rinses away quickly and at that point the hair feels no different at all, it is only when it starts to dry that you see the benefits.
I can dry my hair with the hairdryer and still manage to get it to style well, it feels soft and there is a reasonable shine there.
I managed to buy the product at a good price and I admit that I only bought one bottle !
If I had to pay the full RRP for it then I would have to think twice about the purchase but I will worry about that when this bottle is empty !
Paul Mitchell Shampoo Three claims to be a deep internal cleansing shampoo designed to penetrate the hair shaft to remove residual minerals from hard water and fatty acids left behind by medications. It was recommended to me by a stylist after complaining about the chlorine in the water which is causing my hair to look completely dull. I bought it from the hairdresser, which apparently is the only place recommended for buying as otherwise it is not guaranteed as it may be counterfeit, old or tampered with (or so it says on the bottle).
Product: The shampoo comes in a white plastic bottle of 250 ml (8.5 fl.oz). It is for all hair types, suitable for daily use, except on color-treated hair. It is especially effective before deep conditioning treatments and after swimming and claims to contain the finest ingredients and activated conditioning blend.
Ingredients: Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Disodium Cocoampho-diacetate, Urea (?!!!), Magnesium Sulfate, Sodium Thiosulfate, Bisamino PEG/PPG-41/3 Aminoethyl PG-Propyl Dimethicone/Glutamine/Tyrosine/Leucine/Cysteine/Glycine/Symphytum Officinale/Plantago Major/Wheat, Protein/PEG-12 Dimethicone, Sodium Borate, Sulfated Castor Oil, Magnesium Carbonate (CI 77713), Tetrasodium EDTA, Trisodium HEDTA, Disodium EDTA-Cooper, DMDM Hydantoin, lodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Fragrance (Parfum), Limonene.
Now, if you are anything like me you probably have no clue what are all those ingredients, but if you have any allergies to any ingredients, you should check the list.
Directions as per bottle: Wet hair thoroughly. Apply a small amount and massage throughout the hair and scalp. Rinse completely. A second shampoo may not be necessary.
From my personal experience, you need to use a bit more than with other shampoos, the shampoo has the consistency of a gel and I put quite a bit (let's say the size of a big olive). With other shampoos I did not need as much, so in terms of how long a bottle is going to last I would say about half of uses compared to a normal shampoo. Another problem is that I did feel the need for a second shampoo if I was using a lot of hair products previously (such as conditioner, hair mouse or hair spray).
End result: It does seem to clean the hair fairly well but I have not been impressed at all. The smell is terrible, I would have expected a nice "saloon" kind of fragrance but it is more like a chemical smell that I really hated. Thankfully, it goes away quickly but this shampoo is definitely not leaving a nice scent in your hair, which is very important for me. After drying and styling my hair I have noticed that my hair is finer than usual and I couldn't get it to look nice with any amount of hair spray or mousse, it was just lifeless and dull.
Bottom line? This shampoo does not lather well, smells terrible, and leaves my hair feeling stripped, dry, and tangly. It may work cleaning your hair of chlorine and impurities and it may be even great if you swim a lot, but to be honest it just didn't work for me, I didn't like how my hair looked after using it and I would definitely not be buying it again or recommend it to anybody.
Shampoo one was the first Paul Mitchell shampoo I used. It was after trying so many different shampoos who didn't do the job. My hair was in a dull condition, because of perming and coloring it. After using it for about a month or so I noticed my hair started to look more healthier and shinier. It was also a lot more manageable than before. Shampoo one is a mild shampoo and is ideal for daily use on normal to fine hair, hair that is color treated, processed or permed. It leaves your hair manageable, full of body and shine without dulling buildup. It smells lovely, it has coconut in it, so good reason to use it. I still use it now and then, but because my hair has changed a lot after I had my children I use The Wash more which is a richer shampoo than Shampoo One. I would recommend you to ask your hairdresser first if this shampoo is suitable for your hair before you buy it. Shampoo three I've been using this shampoo for about 6 months and it is a great cleanser. It is specially formulated to internally cleanse hair by removing residues from chlorine, minerals and medications. It is very effective for use after swimming and before deep conditioning treatments to help accelerate and enhance product performance. After using this shampoo I use the Awapuhi one time and the next time I use The Wash. The Awapuhi is to put moisture back into the scalp and The Wash is a great moisturiser for the hair. I definitely notice the effectiveness by using Shampoo Three first before I use one of the other ones. Reason for me doing it this way is that my hairdresser has recommended this. Shampoo Three is a shampoo not suitable for everyone so I recommend again to ask your hairdresser for advice.
Shampoo One is for gentle cleansing, Shampoo Two aims to cleanse deeply, and Shampoo Three aims to remove chlorine and impurities /
