“ Brand: PeeWees / Type: Hair Salon „
I love going to the hairdressers. The excitement of changing your image combined with somebody absolutely devoting their time to perfecting your look is just absolute luxury to me. As a result, I tend to be happy to visit expensive(ish) salons to be truly doted on, and to ensure that my new look will be a good one, and not a terrible mistake.
As a teenager and into early adulthood I always visited the same local salon, and was very happy with the outcome everytime. However, four years ago, I moved to Brighton, and was completely lost. So many hair salons, so many opportunities for it to go wrong......
My friend recommended a visit to PeeWees, and after just one trip I was hooked. The PeeWees 'philosophy' revolves around creating a tailor made service for their individual customers. The jist being that they really take time with you during your consultation to talk all about your hair. They literally want to know everything from how often you wash it to when you had your first hair cut (not literally, but you get the idea) this helps them to build a pciture of your care and helps them to advise you about what you should do.
One of the best things I found with PeeWees was that they are honest, if you come in asking for something which they don't think will work they'll tell you and explain why - this has meant before for me that i've ended up coming away with something they've recommended which has actually ended up a cheaper alternative to what i had originally asked for, so you know their not just out to grab as much commision as they possibly can. The service (in the Brighton kensignton gardens branch in any case) is exceptional - staff are warm and welcoming and just so keen to provide you with a service you will adore.
If you go to the Brighton one, ask for Freddie - she is fantastic! She is german, and i once asked her if she enjoyed hairdressing, she told me that she loved it as people come into the salon feeling negative about themselves and with her help left feeling positive. I thought this was really lovely to hear.
The hair cuts / colours / treatments etc are fabulous - the best thing being that they talk you through your choices advising about aftercare etc. The styles are managable and when you get home and wash your hair, you don't completely lose it (unlike a certain top brand salon i could mention *ahem* toni+guy *cough*) if you do have any queries or hair care concerns after you get home, you can always give them a call or pop in and arrange to see someone - free of charge!
The only downside to PeeWees is....you guessed it, the price. It is expensive... it costs me just over £80 to have a blonde half head highlights and a trim (as you may have noticed from my pic, I have recently opted for a much cheaper, darker shade!). However, they do have discounts, sales and special offers on, literally all the time, so it worth checking - you may be pleasantly suprised! Students get a 20 - 25% discount during the week and saturdays and 10% on a sunday.
Prices are generally wide ranging as they have a range of different levels of staff working in store and the prices vary accordingly - a restyle with a 'graduate stylist' costs £30, ranging right up to £55 for the same with a 'senior artistic director'.

So all in all, a fantastic hair salon experience....for those who can afford it.
