Phil Smith Be Gorgeous Blonde Highlight Enhancing Shampoo

Advantages: lovely scent, hair feels soft and clean after use, handy tube, reasonably priced
Disadvantages: does not lather up very easily, only seems to be available in Sainsbury's
I received this Phil Smith Be Gorgeous Bomb Shell Blonde shampoo for Christmas from my mother in law last year along with the conditioner.
I have only recently got around to using it and have been quite impressed.
~ Packaging ~
The shampoo comes in a yellow plastic squeezy tube that stands on its clear plastic flip cap lid. The name of the shampoo is in large letters on the front of the tube, with 'BOMB SHELL' in metallic gold lettering.
The tube holds 250ml of shampoo.
The back of the bottle says, 'Feel gorgeous and you'll look gorgeous. This salon professional range by celebrity hairdresser Phil Smith helps every woman to Be Gorgeous.'
~ The shampoo ~
The back of the tube claims that the shampoo brightens and refreshes blonde shades and highlights, creating a mega-watt golden shine.
My hair is naturally blonde and the promise of creating a mega-watt golden shine doesn't particularly appeal to me. The front of the tube says that this shampoo is for natural, coloured or highlighted blonde hair.
~ Use ~
The shampoo is easy to squeeze from the tube, but the hole for it to be squeezed from is quite small so I find it takes a bit longer to get my usual handful.
The shampoo smells nice. It contains chamomile extract so it has a delicate chamomile scent to it. It is neither too thick nor too thin and it feels smooth. It appears a pearly creamy yellow colour.
You don't need to use a lot of it. My 250ml tube seems to have lasted quite a while so far.
The shampoo does not lather up very well, but it does feel effective and gets the job done. It is easy enough to rinse off.
~ Results ~
After using this shampoo my hair has a subtle chamomile scent. It feels soft and clean.
If I'm honest I don't think it brightens my hair at all, but I don't particularly want it to.
I often receive blonde hair products and treatments as gifts, which suggest that they will enhance my blonde (not that they ever make a difference). Such promises don't particularly appeal to me. I am perfectly happy with my blonde!
I usually use this shampoo alongside the conditioner, but I tried it on its own so that I could review it properly, without accidentally reviewing the conditioner.
~ Price ~
The shampoo and the conditioner are available in 250ml tubes for £1.99 each and it seems to be only available at Sainsbury's. I have never seen it in the shops before and visiting the website, www.philsmithhair.com there is a banner saying 'Available at Sainsbury's', which suggests it isn't available from many other places.
~ Conclusion ~
I really like the scent of this shampoo and it does linger on your hair for a day or so. My hair is left smelling clean and fresh.
The shampoo is very reasonably priced and a little goes a long way.
I like the squeezy tube that the shampoo comes in. It is easy to get the right amount of shampoo onto your hand to apply it, without squeezing out too much due to the small hole which releases the shampoo.
It is a nice consistency and after using it my hair feels clean and soft. I have also found it is easy to untangle my hair after using this shampoo even if I have not used the conditioner as well. This is not something I find very often, using a shampoo without adding some conditioner.
I don't think that the shampoo makes my hair appear brighter as claimed and the shampoo doesn't lather up as well as other shampoos I have used, but overall I do like it and would buy it again.
Summary: A good blonde shampoo!
