Philip Kingsley Elasticizer Extreme Intensive Super-Moisturising Hair Treatment
I bought a travel size 20ml sachet of this product from bathandunwind as I didn't want to spend the money for the full size product (which is really quite expensive, in my opinion). Also I didn't know if this product would work for my hair and it does to an extent but it is not as amazing as I thought it would be.
- Product description (from bathandunwind)
"Elasticizer Extreme is targeted at a very specific hair type: extremely dry, porous and very thirsty! This pre-shampoo intensive super moisturizing product is ideal for hair that is exceptionally processed and damaged as it will provide instant replenishment, hydration and nourishment."
- About the product
I bought the travel/trial size sachet of this hair treatment and it is 20ml or 0.67 FL oz. The plastic is plastic and it would be great for travelling or to try out the product before possibly purchasing the full size. This sachet features a re-sealable cap which is great as I did manage to get two separate uses out of this small sachet. This treatment is designed for individuals with over processed, porous hair types and this product claims to add elasticity, manageability, bounce and shine to the hair.
- Using the treatment and results
The directions on the sachet say to: wet hair, apply in sections, and work into hair with finger tips then rinse well. Although for improved results it states that for very dry hair to leave this treatment in the hair for 10 to 20 minutes. I have only used this product as a treatment in which I wait for the product to work, I don't apply this then rinse it out. I wet my hair then I dispensed half of the sachet into my hands and distributed the treatment as evenly as possible throughout my hair - the first time I used this product my hair was still super long (reaching the small of my back and then some) so I only managed to cover the ends and some of the midlengths. Then the second use of this product I had my hair cut (about nine inches off so my hair is still pretty long, reaching almost half way down my back) but I did manage to cover a lot more of my hair with this treatment and I did really help my hair. The treatment is an off white colour; it has a really smooth texture and a fairly thick consistency. This product also has a slight plastic scent but it is not too noticeable and it does not really transfer to my hair. The application process of this product is fairly quick and easy; it can be a little bit messy as the treatment can slide out of my wet hair but there are no major negative points about this product so far.
Once applied and massaged into the hair I wait for about an hour before rinsing this product out, I left it on for an hour as I have read in magazines that people leave this treatment in their hair overnight so I thought that the longer I left this product on my hair the better - and it definitely worked. While the treatment is in my hair, it can make my hair feel hard and stiff but when the product is washed out this effect is washed away too. The second time I used this product I left it on for even longer - about five hours and it made my hair really smooth, moisturised and most of all after two treatments this product made my hair feel stronger and healthier.
Rinsing this product out of my hair is no problem at all; it just feels like I am washing out a hair mask and it does not take long to rinse out. My hair has a problem of falling out (not a massive problem as my hair is still really thick and fairly long) but after using this treatment a couple of times I definitely noticed a difference as my hair was not falling out as much, when compared to my hair before using this product. My hair has been coloured recently (although I have been colouring it at home and in the salon for nearly five years) and this product really helped keep my hair looking and feeling smooth, moisturised, soft and manageable after being coloured quite intensively (three separate colours for a hair colour correction, then a cut). Overall, a nice hair treatment which makes my hair smoother, stronger and more manageable; although the price and the hype around this product (which I don't really think it deserves as it is really good but it is not incredible, in my
opinion) is enough to make me not purchase this product again - unless it is a small travel size sachet.
- Price and availability
I bought this product as a small travel/trial size sachet which is 20ml; this sachet is priced at £3.70 from bathandunwind.co.uk. The 150ml tub of this product is £26.25 and a 500ml tub is a whopping £53.60.
*Easy to use and rinse out
*smooth, creamy texture which applies nicely to the hair (although it can slip off wet hair)
*Travel/trial size available at a good price (two uses out of one sachet for my now midlength/long hair)
*Leaves my hair looking and feeling less frizzy, stronger, smoother and moisturised
*Does not weigh my hair down, does not make my hair look/feel greasy
*Full sizes are very expensive, in my opinion
*Not as amazing as the hype led me to believe unfortunately but it is still a really great product
*One of the claims of this product was that it adds shine and this was only a minimal effect on my hair
