I'm a regular shopper with Avon and have invested in similar products before, but I came across the Planet Spa Mediterranean Conditioning Hair Mask and decided to buy it and give it a try, as I'm constantly having problems with the thick frizzy dried out hair. No product has ever had noticeable results but the Planet Spa Mediterranean Conditioning Hair Mask had almost instant results. It made my hair smooth to the touch and look so much healthier. I have extreme hair damage from all the heat products such as hair curlers, streightners etc I use and I've tried hair conditioning treatments in the past that haven't ever worked that well. After using the conditioning hair mask and seeing such great results I ordered in bulk a ton more tubs. If your like me and suffer from dull, dry, frizzy or damaged hair then you need to try the Planet Spa Mediterranean Conditioning Hair Mask out because it works wonders on your hair. Barley recognisable once I was finished. I strongly recommend this product, worth every penny in my eyes ! I also must add the product itself smells delicious, almost a fresh coconut smell and leaves the same amazing smell on your hair too. I was amazed with the results, so much so that I have even explored and bought different products from the range which are all as amazing as the Planet Spa Mediterranean Conditioning Hair Mask. It's a 10/10 high quality product with instant results and I'm in love with this!
I simply adore the Avon Planet Spa Olive Oil Moisturising Body Wash, so have gradually tried all the other products in the range. The scent of this product is subtle and natural, it reminds me of a henna product I used years ago.
My main bug bear with many Avon products though is the lack of direction. You select what you want from the catalogue, return the catalogue to the agent with your order and a few weeks later your order turns up. all too frequently though, the products come with no or insufficient instructions and this is typical of the trend. Its OK if you are used to using a similar product from another range and know what to do, or if you remember what you read in the catalogue a few weeks previously when the selection and purchase seemed like a good idea, but otherwise you are left floundering in the dark as to how to use the product.
I had not used a product like this for some time. So, I guessed what to do! The first attempt was a dissaster, there I was stood in the shower, hair wet, undid the screw top and was met with a strong sealed inner wrapper. I should have known that might happen, but with no scissors handy, I used my usual conditioner and tried again the next day I had time for a condition and wait product. So ding - ding round 2. Pot open already, having armed myself with the kitchen scissors. Washed and rinsed hair, smoothed on the sweet smelling, pale green conditioning gunk. I really do love the smell of Avon's Planet Spa ranges. So, so far so good, whilst I was waiting I used an Avon Planet Spa body mask and face mask as well, wished I'd taken a magazine into the bathroom! I removed it after about 8 minutes by rinsing thoroughly, I felt like it was not all out, but did not want to use too hot water. However, when hair dried, good colour and shine, very smooth and soft, but fly away. But I do have difficult hair. My hair is fine but heavy, dry and fly away, yet prone to greasiness and ever so hard to hold a style. However after using this product my hair styled pretty well and yes I will buy again and yes I would recommend this product.
When you get the product you notice the peel back label on the side, but that is only a brief blurb in 147 (guess) different languages, so no help whatsoever.
Fragrance: A light, subtle, slightly earthy organic fragrance
Best For: Hair in need of a little TLC
Useful for: General hair care routine maintenance
Not for: Probably would not suit really greasy hair and maybe not needed on really short styles
Because although the product is great and the containers are nice, it is very tricky to open and you need prior knowledge of how to use the product, therefore I award it 4/5.
Container: Strong rigid plastic tub, that are recyleable, but I pass to a friend as containers for her jewellery making.
Price:£5.50, Avon frequently run offers, so I tend to stock up when they have a really good offer.
I believe this product represents really good value for money, already cheaper than competitors similar items, buy it when it is on offer and it is a real bargain. The tub lasts me about twelve weeks, I intend to mask my hair every other week, but you know life gets in the way of these type of plans, so it tends to happen about two out every five weekends. I have medium length hair and concentrate the mask on the ends. I always make sure I have one in stock, as I never know when Avon are going to have an offer on or leave this out of a catalogue.
Available from: Avon Catalogue, Avon Website and outlets like Amazon and eBay.
Thank you for reading :)
6 months on: Erm I might intend to use every onther week, but I now know for a fact I've only used this once since I wrote the review! - I've found a good conditioner!!!
WHAT IS IT?
A hair mask from Avon. It is part of their Planet Spa range and I was gifted it as part of a set at Christmas.
HOW DO YOU USE IT?
Wash your hair as you would any other time and then apply the hair mask. You have to make sure it coats all of your hair and then you leave it on your hair for a few minutes to soak in, after that you rinse the cream off and dry your hair like you usually would.
WHAT I THINK
I did not like this hair mask very much and did not think it was effective on my hair. It made my hair soft but it was too soft so that I had a problem to style it and had to use a lot more styling products than normal.
The first time that I used this Planet Spa hair mask I got it too close to my skin and then it left my roots very greasy but that does not happen if I am careful about where on my hair I apply it.
When I have rinsed it off my hair I think it feels very soft and healthy, it is easy to comb because the mask removes all of the knots in my hair and that is a very good thing because I bleach my hair and use a lot of styling products so it is very dry. I do not think the mask moisturises my hair at all but it gives it a better condition than it had before I used it, I think a good conditioner would do just as good though so I will not buy this again.
It smells very nice and so I think it is pleasing to use, the smell does not stay on my hair after I have rinsed it off and I am glad for that because I think the smell gets to be a bit greasy when it has been on my hair for about 3 minutes. I think the hair mask rinses out easy and it does not leave any residue, my hair feels soft and clean after rinsing.
I received mine for Christmas but I only started using it 2 weeks ago and it has all gone, the tub is 250ml but you do have to use a lot because it does not spread in my hair very easy. You can buy it only from Avon or avon.com
3 Dooyoo Stars.
I have had trouble with dry frizzy curly hair so much so my partner plays Tina Turner songs everytime i hair wont go into place!
For years i have used Avon products and my hairdresser said i should use a hair mask once a week to help condition my hair, so i bought this one.
This smells lovely as with all hair products smell is important if you like the smell you are likely to buy.
I was worried incase it would make my hair greasy ( even though my hair is dry, its get greasy easily) but no i put it on and washed it out and the next day my hair was super soft and not greasy.
Easy to use?
I am no hairdresser my hair is either up or down when i use products i always end up soaking my hair and it looks worse, i did ask my hair dresser how long to leave on she suggested at least 5 minutes. I simply shampooed then smothered my hair in the hair mask ensuring i ran my fingers through and on the roots, i had my shower then the last thing i did was wash it out. Apparently its important to wash it totally out and don't leave residue as that's why it gets greasy.
Really easy to use just like a extra thick conditioner suitable for any hair novice.
I found this product actually works well with my unmanageable mane, after use it was easy to comb through when wet which never happens. The best thing its frizz free I no longer have hair doing its best attempt of the great escape!
Over all this product smells nice, its great value, it really works and it suits my hair perfectly. I wouldn't want or need to try a more expensive hair mask as this does the trick!
Skin care, hair care, body care, you name it and I do it being the beauty freak that I am! I own a ridiculous amount of multi coloured lotions, potions and creams; all of which promise miracle results. However, as of yet, none have transformed me into Elle Macpherson, but I can always live in hope. During one of my regular shopping sprees with Avon I came across their Planet Spa Mediterranean Olive Oil Conditioning Mask; a product that seemed too good to resist, so my purchase was made with this review discussing my thoughts.
We are presented with 200 ml of mask, which is contained in an eye-catching circular tub with a screw top lid. I had high hopes for this product due to its inclusion of olive oil, as the ingredient is known for deeply penetrating the hair with its anti-inflammatory properties assisting in the prevention of dandruff in addition to promoting a healthy scalp. Despite olive oil offering superb properties, it is perfect for those suffering skin with a sensitive skin and/or scalp and its lightweight texture is unlikely to cause any adverse reactions. Whilst we are not provided with any information on the hair type the mask is aimed at, due to the ingredients, I am presuming it to be suitable for those consumers with dry and colour treated hair.
Whilst I use normal conditioning products on my hair during the week, every Sunday without fail I use an intensive mask to offer an additional moisturising boost. I would describe my hair type as normal although the ends can be prone to dryness and frizz, particularly as my hair is constantly subjected to home colorants as well as a hair dryer, straighteners and a multitude of products. Whilst I would consider myself to be experienced in using hair masks, in order to obtain maximum results I wanted to carefully follow the directions, which are contained on the underside of the tub by way of a sticky circular label, which needs to be peeled back to reveal the instructions for use.
This is where my problems began as despite pulling back the label I was only able to reveal pages four and five and it was an absolute impossibility to locate pages two and three, which were firmly stuck together. As my nails are long I had anticipated that I would easily separate the pages, but I gave up after fifteen minutes of sheer exacerbation and passed the tub to my husband only for him to encounter the same problem. Consequently, I decided that it was probably fine to use the mask on a once a week basis, but I didn't have a clue how long it should remain on my hair before rinsing, so I attempted to locate the answer on the Avon website, which unfortunately, provided no information whatsoever.
The next challenge was actually getting inside the tub, as whilst the large lid easily unscrewed, I was met with a piece of thick greaseproof paper, which was firmly attached around the tub. I twirled the tub around with the expectation of finding a small tab, which could be gently pulled, but alas, one could not be found, so it was a case of stabbing the paper with the point of a knife. Due to my sheer frustration and the splitting of a fingernail, I wanted to toss the tub out of the window and forget the idea of deep conditioning my hair, but waste not want not, so I proceeded to use the mask.
The mask offers a calming colour of olive green, which perfectly matches the packaging with its aroma being clean and fresh although I am unable to identify anything specific. I found it easy to apply the thick gloopy mask to my hair with its aroma slightly intensifying as I combed it through my long hair with my fingers. After applying, I again attempted to separate the pages of the sticky label, but to no avail. However, whilst scrutinising the unrecognisable language on page four, I discovered the number 10 and presumed this to be the amount of time the mask should remain on the hair, so I duly waited for ten minutes prior to rinsing away.
The mask was easily removed within the same timescale required for an ordinary conditioner with the texture of my hair feeling soft and silky smooth. A good test for me is that I run my fingers along the surface of my hair in the opposite direction to the hair growth and as a result, a good conditioner should offer a smooth touch whereas without conditioner, the hair feels a little rough. The mask passed my test and had not left any sticky residue or heaviness to my hair and I was able to style as normal with my hair feeling extremely lightweight. I was disappointed that the gorgeous clean and fresh scent had vanished, but as I always use hair spray, any aroma is generally masked.
I have used half of the 200 ml tub over five applications with my hair reaching half way down my back, so for those consumers with short hair, the tub should last a good length of time. Whilst I enjoyed the opportunity of trying out a new hair mask, I cannot admit to Mediterranean Spa being superior to Dove, which is my favourite product. Whilst the actual mask was acceptable and served its purpose, I was disappointed with the product due to the frustrating label, which prevented me for accessing the directions for use together with the difficult to remove greaseproof paper and as a result, I feel a three star rating to be appropriate. If you are interested in making a purchase I would advise that the mask normally retails at £5.50, which is a little more expensive than Dove products although at the time of writing it is on promotion for £3.30.
I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading.
