Redken All Soft Conditioner
Advantages: Beautifully soft hair results and enhances highlights
Disadvantages: Expensive initial outlay
Isn't it strange when you have been doing Dooyoo for a long time that something you use everyday hasn't made it into a review? This was the case with my Redken All Soft Conditioner that is so much part of my hair care routine that I have it in salon size bottles in my bathroom!
My hair is naturally very coarse and prone to frizz, and without care it quickly becomes unmanageable. Several years ago I discovered Redken All Soft Conditioner, and being pleased with the results I would purchase for special occasions only, as due to this being a salon brand it commands a hefty price tag. I discovered subsequently that it could be bought in 1 litre salon containers which work out so much cheaper and this led to my more frequent use.
To give you an idea 250ml of the conditioner can be purchased online at the moment for the reduced price of £10.05 over on Lookfantastic.com, but a litre on Ebay sells for £24.95. I think as with all premium hair care products it pays to shop around, as the cost varies daily as the market has become so much more competitive. I always check HQ Hair at Hqhair.com, Feel Unique at feelunique.com and Gorgeous at gorgeousshop.co.uk.
What Is So Special About All Soft?
So what does this conditioner claim to do and what sort of hair types may benefit? Essentially this is a highly moisturising conditioner which has excellent de- tangling properties, and it imparts a smooth and shiny look. It is loaded with nourishing ingredients that Redken call their Silk-Luxe Complex, and these include Gold Camelina which is said to add luminosity and lustre, avocado and olive oils for moisture, and silk amino acids that are said to put back protein into the hair. The product also contains keratin and argan oil and these strengthen the hair rebuilding and adding vitality.
How To Use.
To use you simply apply a walnut size amount to the hair concentrating on the ends mainly, but allowing the product to coat the roots lightly, building more heavily into the lower layers. It has a pleasant, almost honeyed scent, that is reminiscent of the L'oreal Elvive Nourish and Shimmer range that is sold in the similar colour pale yellow bottles.
Before deciding to purchase any beauty product, be it a lipstick or a shampoo, I always read the reviews on makeupalley.com. This website is absolutely fantastic as it has saved me a fortune. Since discovering it several years ago I have made very few "mistake" or "impulse" purchases preferring to gauge opinion first. This conditioner scores an impressive 4/5 and 70% said they would re-purchase. This is a high score, and certainly reviewers over there don't make judgements lightly, and furthermore this result is even more meaningful as there are almost 700 reviews of this conditioner.
I found that this product transformed my hair from the first use onwards imparting softness and shine. It is so easy to use, and so economical as you only need a very small amount. As I said earlier I purchase the litre bottles now, and if you look on Ebay you can also buy the pump dispensers that fit on the bottles- some sellers are even throwing them in for free. I think this is excellent as the pump is integral to making sure that the conditioner lasts a long time. I find with use three times a week my current litre bottle is still going strong after six months and I have long shoulder length hair. In the past I have found that I have had to replace the bottle every nine months, so it works out at about £2.90 per month with use 3 times per week on average.
What I really love about this conditioner is that it makes combing the hair so effortless after use, and it makes styling so much easier as the hair lies flatter, and is more sleek and polished afterwards. It leaves a pleasant fresh scent on the hair, but this is subtle and not flowery or overpowering at all. This product is especially good if you live or visit windy places as I do, as it stops tangles, and it also works very well in controlling frizz in humid environments too. Another attribute this has is that it seems to make my highlights more noticeable, and the hair looks much more moisturised, and soft after use. I think it really lives up to its name with regard to the softness it claims to give, as my hair always takes on a lovely silky feel after use which is definitely not its natural quality. As I use straighteners every time I wash my hair I do use a lot of drying heat, and this conditioner still imparts softness and intense shine despite harsh treatments.
I also use the matching shampoo but this isn't mandatory to achieve optimal results, and I sometimes use other less expensive alternatives or mix and match with some higher brand alternatives. Redken also make a lovely summer holiday set, this has two small bottles of the shampoo and the conditioner in a plastic wallet which is ideal for travelling. This normally goes on sale in late Spring and is a lovely gift for someone or ideal for your summer holiday.
I think this conditioner is ideal for hair that is prone to dryness or is coloured, grey, or has a coarse texture, but reviews of the product on makeupalley state that all hair types can benefit, so unless your hair is naturally oily then I would recommend trying it. The initial shock at the price soon dissipates with the realisation that a large bottle negates the cost, and the results speak for themselves as this is a luxurious product that is in my holy grail of beauty products and one I am never without.
