Advantages: Good brand, gives volume

Disadvantages: Not the most attractive packaging, higher price tag

Having been given the opportunity to test a range of salon shampoos and conditioners I received Redken Body Full Shampoo which claims to provide 'anti-gravity volume for normal/fine hair'. I was actually expecting to be disappointed compared to some of the others I'd been sent the 300ml bottles appearance is not the most attractive and with a price tag of £8+ for the shampoo alone it wouldn't have been one I'd have even considered buying.

Transparent, the shampoo has a slightly green tinge and if scents can conjure up colours this most certainly would be green. With a herby aroma it also smells clean but luckily not to the point of a toilet cleaner. The scent isn't a strong one and barely recognisable on my hair after washing/drying.

I always apply shampoo twice even though this one doesn't state to. I tend to use around a 10p piece size first of all which does lather up well and massages easily into the roots as it's not so thin it runs off their hair nor too thick that it drops off in blobs. The second application I use around a 5p piece size working more on the ends and although the shampoo is not overly bubbly still covers my hair well. This was one of the shampoos that actually made my hair feel squeaky clean before applying the conditioner.

The flip top lid is easy enough to open and close with one hand and the design of the bottle supplies a little grip but could still easily be dropped if wet. It does seem to seal well enough that it shouldn't open if travelling but I'd still put it in a bag.

The results were impressive. Although the claims of anti-gravity and weightless sounds more like the extremes of standing on end there is a noticeable result each time I use it. My hair is long and straight but the shampoo gives it a bounce from the roots but the most noticeable result is on my fringe which I have to tame with mousse it's that extreme. My hair is left soft and it's easy enough to run my fingers through it without any tugs. Whether blow dried or left to dry naturally my hair has a lovely shine and the roots are not left feeling greasy at all, even after a few days.

If you are looking for volume then I do highly recommend this shampoo. The packaging doesn't do it justice but Redken is a good brand and I think it does deserve the higher price tag (I do recommend searching around online for a good deal though).

Summary: Shampoo that promises and delivers great volume
