Advantages: Nice smell,

Disadvantages: Expensive and not suited to my hair.

I have a dear friend who is a red hot American buisness woman, made a fortune , lost it, and is now making another! She oftens stays with us when she is on this side of "The Pond" and not only do I have the pleasure of her company but I get to try out all the goodies she does not wish to drag back to the U.S. This is how I have come to be using Redken 5th Avenue NYC Clear Moisture Conditioner, my first time with this upmarket brand.

No Expense Spared.

Yes it is expensive this bottle of 250ml will set you back at least 10pounds and I have seen it advertised at up to 25pounds. I have only seen it on the internet but possibly it is available in good department stores and I have seen Redken advetised in hair salons. The Redken website is very slick and pared down , no florals for these high powered NYC ladies, have a look and you will see what I mean! www.redken.com

The Big Apple Design.

The bottle itself is quite a strange design. It is made of light grey coloured plastic with a flat face bearing the name of the product over an abstract design in mid blue. It also says in three languages that it is conditioner, light moisture for dry to normal hair and contains apricot oil and glucosamine. The reverse of the bottle is nicely curved to hold in a wet hand and the sides and shoulders have little ridges in them for all the world like a bottle of fuel additive! This idea is re-inforced by the black flip open top, don´t get them mixed up please, you could get a head full of oil or a car with well conditioned fuel! Onward, the conditioner claims, (In very small letters on the reverse); to detangle and moisturise hair using "Redkens exclusive Interbond Conditioning System" and provided soft and shiny and airy hair due to it´s Micro Moisture Complex. Well, lets see.

A New York State of Mind.

As directed I use after shampooing and rinsing, the conditioner is a glossy white, thick cream with a very pleasant smell of apricots. it spreads through my thick and, got to say , pretty tough, head of hair, very easily and i leave it for a couple of minutes for all that micro stuff to work itself in. A good rinse off and I leave my hair to dry naturally.

My Opinion.

Well I don,t think I am going to make it in New York, Perhaps my thick; Scottish hair is just too much for for it as although smelling is quite pleasant it is really a bit of a let down . Looking on the web sight iit says that its micro igredients penetrate the hair, but I am still waiting! This is possible better suited for people with sleeker, finer hair than me so I think I will save my pennies and buy something less up town for my down town hair!

Three stars from me.

The bottle is recyclable and the contents last for 12months after opening. ..

Summary: Expensive upmarket conditioner, others give better results for less money.
