“ Brand: Redken / Type: Hair Shampoo / Hair type: fine hair / What it does: volumizeses, „
This isn't a shampoo I chose to buy for myself but I have used it on a few occasions now as it was bought when me and my dear other half went shopping online and she said she wanted to get something to thicken her hair. My wife has long greasy straggly hair with not much volume and I try to encourage her to have it cut with some layers possibly to give it some bounce but she has a fear of hairdressers. We have tried many volumising shampoos and this is the most recent one we have tried. As it is left lying around in the shower, obviously I just pick up what there is and I have tried this myself a few times.
I am sure I have seen this shampoo for sale in hair salons but we paid £10 for it directly from the manufacturer. I thought that was a lot of money but if it means my dear wife will look a bit better than she does from the neck up then it is worth it.
This shampoo is, I think, a quality and well known brand and it is from Redken. I used it in the shower on my head and all over my body, as I do with all shampoos. It lathered brilliantly and I only need a teeny amount to get a MASSIVE amount of suds. It didn't smell much of anything at all but then I am having problems with my sinuses at the moment, so that could be it.
It rinsed off well and afterwards my hair seems about ten times bigger in volume. I am already a VERY hairy manly man and didn't really want my beard to be any more bouffant than it is, but this stuff seemed to magnify each and every hair follicle I have - including those all over my chest, arms, legs, back and shoulders. I looked like an ape man.
My hair took a day or so to calm down but colleagues at work remarked how lustrous my hair was looking and how it had even brought out the ginger hues I am so proud of. My hair felt really smashing for days afterwards - full of body, bounce and volume.
I cannot say I have personally noticed any difference to my wife's hair though. It continues to look dead, greasy, lacking body life and beauty, but we will have to keep trying.
Overall I'm delighted with this shampoo. I will continue to keep using it even though it costs so much, it's done wonders for me and that's all that counts!
I don't usually treat myself to fancy hair products, but I am fortunate to have a relative in the industry, which means a constant stream of new hair products to sample. Redken is definitely a make that salons would give the nod to. It is seen as sophisticated and good quality and cannot be bought from supermarkets.
The Redken range will cost a few pounds more than a normal shampoo would. This bottle of volume shampoo would be close to ten pounds if you were to purchase it from a salon. You can also get it online for a similar price.
The packaging is simple and effective and the shampoo pours from the tip with ease. It is quite a lightweight shampoo, but you do not need loads to produce a thick sensuous lather here. When I tried it, it foamed up into a satisfying flurry of bubbles and felt great at the massaging stage. Creating volume in hair is a tricky business and you can often tell at the wash stage how it will come out. This did not feel clingy to the scalp and the hair seemed to lift even at the washing stage.
No real smell here, but I guess it smells of salons, you know that just washed smell you get at the sinks. The rinse was good, with a quick blast removing the shampoo and no traces left in the roots.
After the blow dry, I am pleased to say that the hair had gained some bounce and lustre. The tips and fringe had a little more oomph than normal and the hair also felt clean without being weighed down. I would use this again, but the downside would be the price. My hair also builds up resistence to volume quickly, so this perhaps a shampoo that I would use every now and then or at the weekend for a special plumping up treat.
It works though and delivers a good level of life to tired ot flat looking tresses. Recommended.
