I use GHD straightners on my hair, my hair is fairly thick and although coloured to within an inch of its life, relatively healthy. I was told by my hairdresser to use a hair protection serum, in the salon they use Redken iron silk 07, so I thought I would buy some and use it too. I must admit the main reason I bought this item was the smell. It smells sweet and really nice and fruity. I like the smell but did wonder at first if every insect would be attracted to my nice smelling hair, but they have not been, luckily for me. The spray is a liquid in a pink bottle with a spray on top; you use it as a spray and spray the layers of your hair before straightening or spray on to hair before blow drying. You can apply this spray to both dry and wet hair, I often leave mine to dry naturally overnight (limit the heat damage) and then straighten after applying some spray. Although this is designed to be applied to dry hair according to Redken, it is specifically designed for straightening hair rather than a typical heat spray. I must admit this is the first Redken product I have ever bought and I don't understand the numbers, ie, 07, I don't know what that means but the entire Redken product line on the website has numbers. Redken say the spray is designed to flatten and strengthen hair with zero frizz. They also say it leaves the hair with no 'stiff' feel, and this I must admit is the biggest truth, some sprays can bog your hair down and you can feel the product within your hair. With this product you can't feel it at all, you can run your fingers through your hair and wouldn't know you'd used it. This item cost me £9 from the hairdressers, I have no idea where else you can buy it, except from direct from Redken themselves, as they are based in New York it's not easy to swing by to get. You can also google suppliers and I've now seen prices can range from £11-£14, so I'll carry on buying it from the hairdressers. This product leaves your hair straight and shiny and feeling natural and non sticky. The bottle contains 250 ml, and lasts ages, I use quite a lot of this each time I use it, and that is probably 4 times a week. I am not even half way through the bottle now but have had it for about 5 months, if not longer.
