Advantages: They know what THEY want
Disadvantages: Do not listen to the customer
I went to the hairdressers yesturday....which now I regret AGAIN!
I used to live in Leicester, the hairdressers I used there was brillant in doing what the customer wanted. I would go in with a couple of pictures and my hair was done almost exactly as the pictures were. I went every 6 weeks or so for years and never had a complaint with them.
Then a couple of years ago I moved to Colchester, BAD HAIR MOVE!
I must point out first, my hair is thin but naturally curly and at the time long.
went to three different hairdressers over the first few years just for a tidy up with not much of a problem except they did not seem to know about scrunch drying, but it was ok as the cut was ok.
My sister suggested going to a bigger named salon like I did in Lecester, so I went to Tony and Guy. I showed them pictures as I want the style changed to Mid length. But still a softer cut with a couple of layers, the lady said ok. she did a straight blint cut and then dryed it straight. ok prehaps I was not clear but the pictures were!!
Amonth ago I gave up smoking, thought I would spend some of the money i saved on a well known posh hairdressers, one my mum has been using for years with no complaints.
i went to Regis today in Colchester, I have decided to have my hair shorter ( to my neck) but still curly. Took some pictures. The lady said instead of this what about a straight bob and use straightners. no i want it like the pictures and how I discribe it. she says I will get some magazines and have a look at pictures, all of which were dead straight, blunt cuts. no I do not want that sort of style and picked a picture similar to the ones I had brought.
She then closed the book and said lets wash your hair.
I thought....she has finally got the message.
Hair washed
Time to start cutting, she suggests putting some whispy layers in to make it thicker....ok.
She finishes cutting and starts drying, I think this is not turning out like I asked.
Waht I did not know was her version of whispy layers is not the ones I have experianced in the past. she has layered it all the way up. then she swiches on the straightners!
hold on I did not want it straight, my hair is thin, I do not own straightners and nor do I want to buy any.
I will just do it this time with straightners to show you want it is like you can still style it how you wanted in the pictures.
ok
I think it looks horriable, I look as though i have no hair and hangs forward over my face and what I did not relise until the mirror to show you the back came out it was cut into the neck.
it is the style for a skinny 20 year old.
Three more points to add......
I have never styled my hair according to fashion, always to what I am comfortable with.
I am not skinny, even in the face.
I am 35!
I ask her to show me how it can be stlye how I wanted like she said.....
the response....
"ERM"....she disappears.
she comes back with the manager (i assume). tells me there is no problem with my hair it is exactly how it is in the magazine, points to one of the fashionable short blunt straight cuts the hairdresser was so obsessed with earlier.
I am not happy but I am not a outgoing forward person especially when i am on my own....I just want a quiet life.
Back and forth this is not how i wanted it...yes it was....this is not....and so on repetivly.
In the end they insisted I pay, which I did in the end all £35.00.
Went to a nearby hairdressers said I asked for my hair like this and this is what i got basically. they said my hair has been thinned out too much and cut too short to do it anything like I want and to come back in a couple of months when it has grown out a bit.
I am not happy....I came home and cryed.
I do not know if it is hairdressers in this area or prehaps I have been very unlucky but I can not find anyone who acually listens and/or wants the custom back again. I would not call myself vain in the slightest, I must wear make up 2-3 times a year at the most, I do not follow fashion trends I just like to be comfortable and my hair styled in a style I am comfortable with.
Is that too much to ask?
Summary: I always assumed that if you are paying a hairdresser to cut your hair they do it how you want it!

- 26/03/08 Olga is not the best hairdresser there a girl called kathy is Eld Lane is good well run unlike the Faces Salon on crouch street as it is poorly run by the incompetent manager and the atmosphere is awful steer well clear. |

- 27/03/07 I've been to Regis a few times and the cut has never been quite as I wanted. If you want a haircut that looks just like the photo (or better!) go to Faces down Eld Lane and ask for Orga. She is the best hairdresser who has ever cut my hair!! It's about £40 for a restyle so a bit more than Regis but well worth it. She used to work for Toni&Guy in the main salon in London and it shows. |
