Advantages: Cheap, heat up really fast, good results.

Disadvantages: Can stop working, but keep your reciepts, they'll be replaced.

I would like to write a review in defence of this product.

I bought my Remington CS3000s in may 2005, after spending too long struggling with some of those steam-style straighteners (the ones that heat up like an iron and can't get your hair straight, no matter what you do) for about a year. My best friend recommended GHDs, as I have very curly hair, but being a student I can't afford to spend that sort of money on something that I don't desperately need.

I chose the CS3000s because they were cheap (24.99), ceramic, and looked as if they might actually work reasonably well. Also, I knew a lot of people with Remington products and they hadn't complained about them much. I started using them straight away (they do heat up extremely fast which, saves loads of time in the mornings) and the first time I went into college, a boy on my course asked if I 'd had hair extensions put in. That's how much longer my curly hair became, after being subjected to the heat!

For over a year this product worked brilliantly for me. I can't believe that some people have complained that they can't get their hair straight enough, because my hair is SO curly and these straighteners can make it look normal. Ok, they never got my hair poker straight and artificial looking but I think this is definitly a good thing. I actually prefer these to my friend's GHDs, as the GHDs left me looking a bit too over done, like a footballer's wife.

Anyway, last week, after much abuse, my straighteners finally stopped working. The cable had become too stressed and they kept flicking on and off. As they were still under a 2 year guarantee I contacted Remington directly. They asked me to send them back (freepost, I should add) and said they would either mend or replace them for me. They couldn't have been more helpful. A week later I received a package containing a newer model of straighteners with a 3 year guarantee. I've paid nothing, not even postage for these.

I am really pleased with the service I have recieved from Remington. I only ever paid out 24.99 and so far I have received 2 pairs of straightenrs, with the assurance that if these one's go wrong, they will also be replaced. If you have money to spend on GHDs, then go ahead, but for me the CS3000 have worked out fine.

Summary: A good budget option and a reputable company.

When you write a product review it's important to bear in mind that many readers won't have read other reviews on the subject - i.e. we don't know (or for that matter care) what other people said about the product. What we are interested in is YOUR opinions. You don't need to defend the product against what others have said. It's good to read a review with such a positive outcome.
