Advantages: cheap hair cuts

Disadvantages: have to have confidence to cut the hair

This review is not on the professional chrome set. Just the professional set.. I was to lazy/scared to ask for the set that I have to be put in. So I thought that I would write a review and put it in this section.

Hubby and I have been going through some belt tightening. In other words we are a bit skint. And hubby seems to be always going to the barbers to get his hair cut. Me I just let it grow and grow. Let hubby trim the ends off. As I do not have a style and it is all one length. Great for everyday wear. Just brush it and go. And after washing it you don't have to blow-dry it. You can just let it dry naturally.

Well back to hubby and his hair. I asked him one day how much he paid for a hair cut £4 (that's cheap I know some men who have paid £25 for a hair cut at a salon) and he has short hair and has to go back about every 6 weeks.

So lets work it out

6 divide by 52 (that's how weeks in the year)=8.5 (yes I know that you can not have .5 of a week but lets not get to picky. I am trying tying to show how much you can save. And I never said I was mathematician.)

8.5 X 4 = £34 per year to get his hair cut. And that does not include the wear and tear on the car or even the petrol. And the waiting time once you get there. Also you can only get your hair cut during working hours. And on a Saturday only to about 12pm(Hubby goes to a barbers and not a hair salon) So it much more than the £34 a year.

One day I asked him casually (like you do) would he mind if I cut his hair? As we had been extending his cuts by trimming the ends and shaving the back of his neck. I looked in the Argos catalogue and they had set from £20 up wards. So I thought next time we are near an Argos. Well this did not happen. So when we went shopping in out local centre I had a look in Boots. The sets they're the same price £19.99. And double points. Brilliant (as in the words of a fast show
character) so we bought the set and took it home.

At home we emptied the box. We had the clippers. 5 combs at grade 1/2/3/5/7 (I think that is what they where I only ever use two of the combs and no more) two ear combs for left and right. A comb and a pair of scissors. And a video so you can watch how to cut hair. Not really much use. No I am not an expert. I just don't have a television or a video.

Thought that I better test them. Took a chair to kitchen, Easier to clean the floor as we have tiles on the floor. Which means the hair can be swept up. We used the biggest comb that we had. I started to do an impression of a lawn mower. After the first zoom across his head. Loads of hair came off. I did ask him the question " are you sure you want to carry on" His words where "you have started so you better finish" After finishing I thought that I had done a very good impression of sheep shearer. Better than the impression of the lawn mower. Hair was scattered all over the floor. I found that it was really hard to do his neck even with the clippers. So I just tend to shave them off with a razor. It makes it cleaner and lasts a little bit longer. I also find that doing around the ears with the scissors is better then using the ear combs.

After use you are suppose to clean and oil the clippers after use to make them last longer. I some how managed to break them. They do have a 2-year warranty. We took the clippers back to Boots as it was still with the first month and changed them. The women in boots said that she had never seen that before. My answer which I kept to myself was I have never been let loose on a pair before.

I have found that some times I get really lazy and cut the hair short. So that it can a little bit longer between cuts.

Value for money: Great they have already paid for themselves. As the hubby uses the nice scissors that came with the set to cut my ha
ir. But for special occasions like when we got married I made him get a proper haircut. As I did not trust myself. And I did want him to look nice.
