Pine smelling shampoo (Sainsbury's Basics Shampoo)

Advantages: does what it is for, good texture

Disadvantages: pine smell, using conditioner is absolutely necessary

Since I don't colour my hair so regularly (as the Clariol Nice'n'Easy lasts long) my hair is greasy every second day. I spent a lot of money on different shampoos when finally I bought Sainsbury's basics shampoo.

This basics shampoo comes in a slightly transparent white plastic bottle. It contains 1 litre of shampoo and costs only 0.26 pounds. I think it is as cheap as possible. I bought it just because I hoped to get a very basic shampoo without any moisturising ingredients that makes my hair really dry.


The shampoo

The shampoo is peach coloured and has pine smell. Well it is quite strange at first but you can get used to it. I have to use a little bit more then my usual Pantene Pro V or Dove shampoos. It foams very well. The texture of the shampoo is smooth and it's closer to a gel so it is not thin and runny. It can be rinsed easily. I felt my hair really clean after using it but I had to use a conditioner because I can hardly comb my hair otherwise.

My opinion

I think from time to time I will buy this shampoo. It lasts long as there is one litre in a bottle. When I used it I found that my hair really got dryer so I could wash it every third day. When you have two little kids and you cook and bake as much as I do you really appreciate this gain. So I was happy with this shampoo for about two weeks. Then my hair got used to it and became greasy every second day again. My solution now is to have 2-3 shampoos and use them in rotation so my hair can't really got used to them. Well there are a lot of bottles in the shower but I don't really care as I want clear hair for 3 days at least.

This shampoo has god texture and you really get value for your money. You really need a good conditioner after washing your hair with this shampoo but you can really spare a few pounds with it. I recommend it.

Summary: Give it a go if you have greasy hair.
