Sainsbury's Basics Shampoo
Advantages: Cheap, easy to use, works well, hair was left clean, no feminine fragrance.
Disadvantages: Scent does not cling to hair.
=== The product ===
Shampoo for making your hair clean. Sure it needs no further description...
=== The packaging ===
This comes provided in a tall plastic bottle. This has a chunky white plastic cap on the top and everything about this packaging is no frills. There is a label on the bottle showing all the usual information such as ingredients and company information. There is really nothing special about this packaging but it is strong, sturdy and can withstand knocks off the side of the bath with no problems at all.
=== How to use this ===
Use this how you would use any other shampoo. Lather, rinse, repeat if necessary.
=== Where can I buy this & for how much? ===
This can be purchased from Sainsburys stores and www.sainsburys.co.uk and a 1 litre bottle currently (October 2011) costs just 62p.
=== Overall opinion ===
I did not actually purchase this shampoo and was actually given it in a large bag of toiletries that my Mum was discarding. There was around half a bottle left, along with about 30 other half used items, and I decided that this should not be discarded just because it was cheap and therefore I set about using it when I was low on other shampoos to use.
I used a decent sized blob of this, around the size of a £2 coin and then I applied this to wet hair. I massaged this in to my hair and my scalp and left it for 2 or 3 minutes, as I usually would with any other shampoo, and then I laid back in the bath and rinsed this off. There was no particularly feminine scent to this, which is a little misleading as the colour is a peach kind of colour, but this was really a unisex scent that was quite fresh smelling. My husband had no qualms about using this as he sometimes does with some of my shampoo products so that is always a plus point too.
This shampoo is basic. It lathers well, it smells alright and it is cheap. My hair was left looking clean but there was not any real scent clinging on to my hair. I am not really worried about that as I usually use a conditioner afterwards so this will give my hair a nice scent anyway if I want that. My hair felt squeaky clean after using this in the bath and I was pleased enough with the results that ensued.
I am not going to say that my hair was left as well cared for as when I used some more expensive brands, however, if my budget was really stretched I would happily buy this and use it in the future. My hair was cleaned, free of grease and felt fairly nice after use and for just 62p per litre this is fantastic value for money.
Summary: A decent shampoo from the Basics range at Sainsburys.
