Advantages: Good looking, Good smelling, not brilliant cleaning
Disadvantages: since it is a shampoo, i would have liked my hair to have been cleaner
I have been looking for a new shampoo for a little while now, normally I stick with Pantene's Ice-shine, but it isn't always available in the shop I use, and I needed a back up.
After doing a stock up shop at Sainsbury's online, it occurred to me to grab some shampoo while I was there, and I checked out their range of home brands (not extensive I have to say) as I am currently on a budget. - Three months the summer in the USA on a student allowance "hooray! for beans on toast!"
After perusing all my choices, which were all very specific and catered for different types, colours and treatments of hair (I just want nice clean hair please) I chose the Chamomile shampoo, formulated for blonde hair. Since some of my hair is blonde, I thought it would probably be the best choice, because I don't have especially dry, greasy or frizzy hair and I certainly don't want any more volume thanks very much Mr. Sainsbury.
On first appearances the Chamomile shampoo bottle is really quite pleasing, its shaped nicely, fitting easily in your hands, the plastic isn't too slippy, making it easily to keep ahold of when it's soapy and you cant see very well. The design on the front is a stylized white Chamomile flower and the bottle is transparent, so you can see the summery yellow shampoo inside and see how much you have left. I think it's a very good looking product.
I used a couple of times in succession to see what it would do to my hair, and I have to say I am distinctly underwhelmed. It's a shame because the shampoo itself had a lovely herby, grassy smell, very fresh and summery, almost like cut grass, and since I don't like many of the floral or overly perfumed shampoos I thought this could be a really good bet.
After using the Chamomile shampoo my hair got greasier than it usually does, and quicker, I found myself also itching slightly at the hairline of my scalp which was quite uncomfortable, I quite often get this reaction to a new shampoo though, so I didn't think too much of it. Although just after washing and drying, my hair felt very nice and clean, unfortunately it just didn't stay that way for very long, unlike many shampoos I've tried.
I also should mention that unlike it promised, the shampoo didn't really bring out the blonde bits of my hair, but I wasn't really expecting that it would. Good thing about managing expectations ;)
I wouldn't recommend that you rush out and buy this product if you need shampoo, although as with most hair care products what works for some people might not work for
others. I would also recommend you be wary of it if you are prone to a sensitive scalp.
