Advantages: Easy to use can, adds shine and texture

I barely use hairspray. The reason for this is because I don't wear my hair in complicated styles and tend to straighten my hair to within an inch of it's life anyway and that is that. However until recently I had a new boyfriend (ok a week is not really bf but bear with me I am trying here lol) and I wanted to try and groom myself better cos to be fair to him he was hot and I wanted to be his equal! lol.

I usually use Lee Stafford. I say usually, however I actually mean I have one bottle of the stuff collecting dust in the corner of my bedroom but I went to use it and it had ran out! I ran over to my local Sainsbury's and they didn't have much on sale at all to choose from so I opted for this and it was only 68p and like I say I don't need much from a hairspray so why pay over the odds for one anyway?!

The Packaging....

Silver 300ml can with integrated jade green plastic sprayer to the top of it. On the front of the bottle and in green writing I'm told it's Sainsbury's Hairspray 'Extra firm Hold' which is suitable for all hair types. On the back of the can I'm told a bit about the product, how to use it, cautions are listed as are ingredients, size is stated (as I've listed already), I'm told the can is made from recyclable steel and that most councils will recycle this and finally there is a bar-code on there. Not a bad looking can to be fair to it!

A Bit About The Product According To The Back Of The Can....

Sainsbury's extra firm hold hairspray is specially formulated to give your hair lasting, flexible, extra firm hold without weighing the hair down. This light misted formula is designed to withstand humidity helping to prevent hair frizz. Brushes out easily.

Directions For Use....

Shake can well before use. Hold can upright 30cm from your hair and spray lightly and evenly, avoiding eyes.

Me Using It....

Well like any hairspray/finishing spray this needs to be used on your finished style and dry hair. It sprays out as promised as a fine mist and evenly distributes itself and dries immediately into the hair. The only gripe I have about this product is the smell. It isn't vile or distinctive or anything but to me it smells very grannified but to be fair to it the smell does evaporate as the day wears on and like I say it isn't vile or owt anyway!

As for 'hold' well I'd say this is more of a light hold that extra firm and as advertised. It's none sticky and very naturally holds hair. It does help eliminate frizz, does help to 'gently' hold a style but isn't strong enough (in my opinion) to hold a rather complicated style. I do like the strength it seems to coat my hair with (in a none sticky way as I have mentioned before) and do like the added natural shine and the way it either brushes/combs out or washes out with ease.

Overall....

A decent hairspray for small jobs really. If you just want something to help ease frizz and add a little texture and shine to the hair then great. If you want hair like Amy Winehouse and expect something to hold that beast of a beehive up, then no this is crapola cos one gust of a wind and this stuff simply isn't strong enough to take on the force. An ok every-day and economical product this is though!
