“ Brand: The Sanctuary / Type: Shower cap „
In the past year or so I have taken to having my hair cut and styled regularly in my local hairdressers. I like to take pride over my appearance and I always wash my hair on alternate days. This means that every other day I have to keep my hair dry while in the shower or bath. I had a shower cap that I used to use and then it got left behind at a hotel when we went away for a few days. I was moaning to my husband one morning about not having a shower cap and when he met me from work that night he had picked this one up from Boots for me. The price of this around £5.75 at present but there are frequent special offers on Sanctuary products so if you're not in a mad rush to get one then I'd suggest waiting.
This is possibly the prettiest shower cap I've ever owned. This is a plastic shower cap with mesh on it, there is a brown silky feeling ribbon around the bottom and then there is a large flower in the middle. This flower looks like a gerbera, which I love, and it is an orange colour. I love this shower cap as it is pretty and yet functional. The bottom is elasticated and ideal for tucking my hair underneath. No hair escapes when I'm in the shower. This is a very functional shower cap that looks stylish too.
My reason for using a shower cap is partly to avoid getting my hair wet but also to avoid getting a massive amount of frizz from my hair. Any water or moisture makes my hair incredibly frizzy and when I've got a nice curl going on frizz can ruin it completely. This shower cap works fantastically well at holding my hair in to place and it means I can have a nice relaxing shower to freshen up twice a day if I want to without worrying about having to spend an hour drying, straightening and re-styling my hair. I've been using it for around 2 months now and I've not had any problems with it smelling like damp or the mesh tearing. I always take care to dry this by hanging it on a ledge that is built in to my shower head holder and I always take it off slowly when I've finished with it to avoid damaging the mesh. While this shower cap may seem a little expensive it is cute, functional and hopefully it will be long lasting too, that makes it worth every penny in my eyes, particularly as I didn't pay for it anyway!
Whilst I shower every day I don't always wash my hair everyday. If I've gone to the trouble of straightening it the day before I don't want to have to do it all again and with the use of some dry shampoo my hair usually lasts about 2 to 3 days between washes which is nice. The only problem is that if you have a shower it's hard to keep your hair dry. I have a nice walk in shower but when you close the door there is not much space so it is hard not to stand underneath the shower head. It does not move so you cannot use the hose to steer the water away from your hair. Also no matter how hard I try there is always steam and some condensation that gets in the air and makes your hair frizzy regardless of what you do. So, with that in mind I use a shower cap when I am in the shower to keep my hair nice and dry. Yes, i feel a bit like an old lady and probably look like one too in my shower cap but hey, if it means I don't need to spend hours on my hair everyday I will go with the granny look!!
I have the Sanctuary Spa Luxury shower cap. I own and use a lot of Sanctuary Spa bath products and got this one time when I made a big purchase from the website. The shower cap is really quite nice looking. It is a white mesh cap with obviously plastic on the inside of the cap otherwise mesh wouldn't be the perfect material as it would let in too much moisture. Around the edge not he shower cap is a nice brown satin ribbon and this is gather so the cap fits snugly around your head and stops you hair from falling out of the cap. I have quite long hair so I always tie mine up in a ponytail before I put it int he cap just in case but this cap is elasticated enough to hold you hair if you don't pull it back. On the front of the cap there is an orange flower to give the cap a bit of a fun look and design.
The cap works really well, whoever I take it off my hair is nice and dry and even the strands underneath at the back of my head have stayed dry which is nice. In order for it not to smell I always hang up the cap after use to make sure it dries properly and does not smell of mildew after a while. The cap costs just £5.61 so a good bargain in my opinion and a funky looking cap!
