Gliss oil nutritive conditioner:
This shampoo made by Schwarzkopf is a god send to my hair. I switch between this conditioner and another in the range called Liquid silk which is in a pink pearly bottle. This conditioner comes in a yellow bottle and can be bought in a range of stores. I buy mine from the 99p store or Home Bargains depending on which one stocks it that day. Both stores stock this brand but often the conditioners are out of stock due to a popular demand for them.
This conditioner is recommended for people with long hair and are prone to split ends. This conditioner has liquid keratin in which is a natural protein that helps aid healthy hair. It also mentions on the bottle that it is good for combability after washing and anti-split ends. When I first started using this, I already had split ends so obviously I didn't see a difference in this part as I still had split ends after using it. I don't think any shampoo or conditioner can fix already split ends. I had my hair cut and noticed a difference with the conditioner then. My split ends weren't appearing til at least 8 weeks after my hair being cut and that was with using the conditioner every time I washed my hair and with using heat to style my hair.
I'm so happy with the Gliss range of shampoo's and conditioners. This one seems to smell different to the others in the gliss range. This is more subtle and has a slight banana scent and smells very sweet. After washing it out it leaves a really nice soft scent behind and does smell very clean. This is probably my favourite from the range as it leaves me hair feeling much softer than any other conditioner I've used and I've tested A LOT of conditioners. I have very curly hair which can get very frizzy, so finding the right conditioner to tame my hair can be a mission in it's self. I find this conditioner makes combing and hair drying much easier as I can manage it much better with how soft and shiny it leaves my hair.
I definitely recommend this conditioner if you have long hair as it leaves it looking shiny and smooth without it getting greasy within a day or two. I would recommend you leave this on your hair for 2-5 minutes before you wash it out and when you do, make sure all the conditioner is washed out of your hair. I give this 5/5 stars for being a product I can rely on each and every time I wash my hair!. You can buy this in the 99p store and other pound shops, Home bargains sell it for £1 and Superdrug also sell this range but it's at £2.49 a bottle and only sell a limited selection.
Thanks for reading my review
A couple of weeks ago I was complaining to my Mother about the conditioner I was currently using leaving my hair feeling and looking quite dry and dull. She told me that, when she was younger, she used to use Schwarzkopf Gliss Conditioner which was really good. Apparently it was a lot more popular back then and she wasn't even sure if it was still around as it had been so long since she had last seen it.
By pure coincidence I found this conditioner in my local Poundland store just a couple of days after we had this conversation so I obviously picked up one of the cheap 200ml bottles. I have started looking for this conditioner in a number of high street shops and supermarkets and am still yet to come across it anywhere other than Poundland (and the 99p shop)! I have, however, found the conditioner on amazon priced at £3.99 so I'm more than happy at being able to purchase it for a quid.
The conditioner comes in a solid yellow bottle although if you hold it up to the light you can just about make out how much you have left which is handy. The bottle tells us that the conditioner repairs inside the hair cell to reduce split ends. There is a great deal of information on the back however, one of the disadvantages with buying from Poundland, this is written in what I assume to be German on my bottle so I'm not sure what is says! I assume it's going to the usual ingredients list and instructions on how to apply. Fortunately, I'm at that point in my life where I am fully aware how to apply conditioner without having to read instructions first.
The first thing I noticed about this conditioner when flipping back the lid was the smell, what a beautiful smell! I honestly have no idea what this smells of, I can't say I've really smelt anything like it in order to compare the scent. It does smell quite sweet though, almost fruity. There's a hint of orange in the scent and it's generally just a lovely smelling conditioner.
The conditioner itself is a really pale yellow colour, almost white really. It's the usual thickness for a conditioner and feels really smooth in your hands. My hair is a couple of inches past my shoulders and I find a couple of grape size blobs suffices in covering my hair. The bottle lasts a fairly long time, I've been using my current bottle on a near enough daily basis for the past two weeks and I've still got about half left. So my £1 is going a long way!
I tend to leave this conditioner in my hair for a good four or five minutes purely because I love the smell! When I wash it off my hair instantly feels a lot smoother and softer and I'm pleased to say my hair continues to be in this condition after I've dried it. The scent also stays on my hair for ages afterwards, I'm always waking up to find I can still smell it which is really nice. What I really do love is when I'm walking down the street on the particularly windy day, my hair blows in my face and the scent hits me all over again.
My hair is constantly amazingly soft, smooth and shiny. I honestly cannot say I've ever tried a conditioner which has left my hair feeling and looking as good as this one (and I've tried a lot of conditioners)! In fact, last week, one of the girls I work with actually asked me if she could feel my hair because it looked so soft.
I can't say I've noticed any visible improvement to my split ends though and I don't feel the conditioner delivers in that respect. If that is your main purpose for using this conditioner then I would suggest something else. Personally, I'm not bothered about this as the overall effects the product has on the touch, look and smell of my hair more than makes up for this.
There are a few other conditioners in the 'Gliss' range such as 'Colour Shine & Protect', 'Asia Straight' and 'Liquid Silk Gloss' which I will definitely be trying out and am quite looking forward to doing so!
I have purchased a couple of conditioners in the Gliss range over the past couple of years, mainly because they're often on sale for £1 at my local chemist's, and I don't always see the point in spending much on conditioner, as I wash my hair daily and it's not really on the dry side, so I don't need any fancy formulas, and tend to find the cheaper ones just as good. However, I do benefit from using conditioner, as most people do, to avoid tangles in my hair.
I decided to try the Oil Nutritive variety (on sale for £1) because I have long-ish hair, and it apparently benefits longer hair, and avoids split ends forming.
After shampooing my hair, I apply this conditioner to the middle to ends of my hair, and wait one or two minutes before rinsing it out. It smells pleasant, and quite sweet. After rinsing it off, my hair feels smooth. Not much of the scent is retained, but that isn't really an issue for me. When my hair is dry, it feels quite tangle-free and pleasant, so I think this conditioner certainly does the job. I have noticed that it does need the two minute wait; if it is rinsed off immediately then I am occasionally left with dry/frizzy areas in my hair.
I stumbled across this conditioner in the pound shop so I thought I'd give it a go!
Because I have quite thick, curly hair I've found in the past that it is hard to get a conditioner that washes out easily, but still offer the benefits of a great conditioner - I think I have found it in this!
The smell is gorgeous to begin with, which always helps, I think it's a passion fruity flavour which is much better than some of the other Schwarzkopf conditioners.
The consistency is nice too, not too thick and not too thin, when I put it on my hair it doesn't seem too heavy and seems to coat my hair really easily (I would say that I probably use much more than the recommended amount, but that's personal choice not because I think the conditioner's substandard so need to).
I leave it to work for a few minutes, comb my hair through and then wash it out - it takes seconds for it all to wash out of my hair, but still leave it feeling freshly washed - it is so easy to feel 'clogged down' with some conditioners, but this leaves my hair feeling light and soft.
I must admit that I haven't used it before I've used straighteners on my hair, so I can't comment on whether it'll make my hair flyaway (fingers crossed it won't!), but I really like it. Likewise I haven't tried it just having my hair cut, so can't see how it works on preventing/ eliminating split ends but I think I will carry on using it anyway.
I stumbled across a bottle of Gliss Oil Nutrive conditioner in a local pound shop recently- I had not tried this product before but as it was £1 and I needed to buy a conditioner, I thought I would give it a try.
The bottle is bright yellow (as in the photo) and is medium sized- around 8 inches tall x 3 inches at the base. For 200mls, I thought £1 was a good deal.
This product is intended for people with longer hair as it is supposed to be "anti split ends". The feature of this product is it "repairs inside the hair cell" and is supposed to provide extra protection against split ends- which is more common in people who have long hair. I used to suffer from split ends when I was younger, but as my hair has got shorter, I don't seem to get split ends anymore.
This product contains argan and shea oil to apparently restructure and repair your hair. As I dye my hair monthly, I think it needs and appreciates the extra conditioner boost- and although I do not have very long hair, I think this is a good choice of conditioner for me as my hair would fall under the "potentially damaged" bracket.
The conditioner is nice and thick when you squeeze it out of the bottle. It smells like a nice banana/ vanilla yoghurt and it is pale yellow in colour. I like how it smells and the texture is what you would expect from a decent conditioner but not as thick as a super conditioner you get in a tub (such as Herbal Essences extra rich conditioner mask).
I certainly noticed my hair was soft and nice and shiny after using this product. Despite rinsing my hair really well, I could still feel a bit of a residue from the conditioner on my hair which I am putting down to its rich conditioning properties- in that- it is a good thing that some of the conditioner stays on your hair as this will be the extra protective qualities mentioned on the bottle. I can imagine this would smooth down split ends.
I would recommend people atleast give this a try. I wouldn't pay more than £1 for it as it does make your hair shiny, but it is not anything out of the ordinary. As you can feel a residue left on your hair afterwards, I can imagine if you use this regularly your hair might not feel so bouncy and soft and smooth- but if you have a problem with split ends I would imagine this would be a great product for you. As far as conditioners go, this is a decent one to buy but it is no match for Aussie conditioners.
I recently bought a bottle each of Gliss Oil Nutritive Shampoo and Conditioner. I chose this over the other products in the gliss range, as it is designed for longer hair prone to split ends, which is my hair type.
~About the product~
The conditioner is made by German company Schwarzkopf. Schwarzkopf have many different product lines, and their Gliss brand has been around since 1952.
This particular conditioner contains Argan Oil and Shea Oil and the formula is designed to repair and restructure the hair, and promises up to 97% less split ends.
The conditioner comes in a bright yellow bottle, which is slightly angular at the top, and stands upside down on its lid. I really liked the design of the shampoo bottle, but I'm not so keen on the design of the conditioner bottle, I think it looks a lot cheaper than the shampoo.
I absolutely adored the fragrance of the Gliss Oil Nutritive shampoo, so I was delighted that the conditioner had the same smell, although I do think the conditioners scent is a little bit subtler and more creamy. The smell reminds me of mandarins, it's extremely fruity and summery.
The colour of this conditioner is absolutely gorgeous! It's a pale, pastel yellow in colour, and almost looks like custard! I've never seen a conditioner this colour before in my life, but I love it!
The conditioner should be applied after shampooing, and the back of the bottle states to 'leave in a short time' before rinsing. That, to me is just slightly ambiguous - I mean, what counts as a short time? I have been tending to leave it on about a minute before rinsing.
The conditioner glides over the hair smoothly, but, like the shampoo I feel that quite a lot is needed with each use, as using only a small amount, doesn't seem to detangle the hair very well.
By using a bit more than normal, I found that this left my hair tangle free, and soft to the touch. The lovely fruity smell stayed on my hair whilst it was still wet, but as with the shampoo, all but disappeared once it was dry, which is a shame, as I love the smell so much.
Appearance wise, I don't think it really made my hair look any difference. On the plus side, it didn't go huge and frizzy as it often does after washing, but then again, it didn't seem to increase shine or anything like that.
As for having up to 97% less split ends, I can't say I've really noticed a huge difference, but it may be that you have to use the product for a while before you notice a change.
This cost me just 99p for a 200ml bottle on special offer in Boots, but I believe that the full price is £1.99
I liked this product, but didn't think that the conditioner was as good as the shampoo. It did leave my hair feeling soft, but on the other hand I did have to use quite a bit in order to detangle it. I love the smell though, it's amazingly fruity and perfect for summer!
