Advantages: Leaves hair looking, smelling and feeling gorgeous .
Disadvantages: Not very widely available, doesn't really repair split ends as advertised.
A couple of weeks ago I was complaining to my Mother about the conditioner I was currently using leaving my hair feeling and looking quite dry and dull. She told me that, when she was younger, she used to use Schwarzkopf Gliss Conditioner which was really good. Apparently it was a lot more popular back then and she wasn't even sure if it was still around as it had been so long since she had last seen it.
By pure coincidence I found this conditioner in my local Poundland store just a couple of days after we had this conversation so I obviously picked up one of the cheap 200ml bottles. I have started looking for this conditioner in a number of high street shops and supermarkets and am still yet to come across it anywhere other than Poundland (and the 99p shop)! I have, however, found the conditioner on amazon priced at £3.99 so I'm more than happy at being able to purchase it for a quid.
The conditioner comes in a solid yellow bottle although if you hold it up to the light you can just about make out how much you have left which is handy. The bottle tells us that the conditioner repairs inside the hair cell to reduce split ends. There is a great deal of information on the back however, one of the disadvantages with buying from Poundland, this is written in what I assume to be German on my bottle so I'm not sure what is says! I assume it's going to the usual ingredients list and instructions on how to apply. Fortunately, I'm at that point in my life where I am fully aware how to apply conditioner without having to read instructions first.
The first thing I noticed about this conditioner when flipping back the lid was the smell, what a beautiful smell! I honestly have no idea what this smells of, I can't say I've really smelt anything like it in order to compare the scent. It does smell quite sweet though, almost fruity. There's a hint of orange in the scent and it's generally just a lovely smelling conditioner.
The conditioner itself is a really pale yellow colour, almost white really. It's the usual thickness for a conditioner and feels really smooth in your hands. My hair is a couple of inches past my shoulders and I find a couple of grape size blobs suffices in covering my hair. The bottle lasts a fairly long time, I've been using my current bottle on a near enough daily basis for the past two weeks and I've still got about half left. So my £1 is going a long way!
I tend to leave this conditioner in my hair for a good four or five minutes purely because I love the smell! When I wash it off my hair instantly feels a lot smoother and softer and I'm pleased to say my hair continues to be in this condition after I've dried it. The scent also stays on my hair for ages afterwards, I'm always waking up to find I can still smell it which is really nice. What I really do love is when I'm walking down the street on the particularly windy day, my hair blows in my face and the scent hits me all over again.
My hair is constantly amazingly soft, smooth and shiny. I honestly cannot say I've ever tried a conditioner which has left my hair feeling and looking as good as this one (and I've tried a lot of conditioners)! In fact, last week, one of the girls I work with actually asked me if she could feel my hair because it looked so soft.
I can't say I've noticed any visible improvement to my split ends though and I don't feel the conditioner delivers in that respect. If that is your main purpose for using this conditioner then I would suggest something else. Personally, I'm not bothered about this as the overall effects the product has on the touch, look and smell of my hair more than makes up for this.
There are a few other conditioners in the 'Gliss' range such as 'Colour Shine & Protect', 'Asia Straight' and 'Liquid Silk Gloss' which I will definitely be trying out and am quite looking forward to doing so!
Summary: By far my favourite conditioner.
