Advantages: Easy to apply, great results
Disadvantages: Stains
I have used Live colour before, but in the Red and found it very easy to use. When out looking for a Black dye recently, found that the Live colur range was on offer for £3.89 in Superdrug so decided to give number 446 a go!
Apart from the money saving offer, the packaging also drew me to this product. It's metallic blue box is eye catching and funky, appealing to the younger market who wants really 'in your face' hair colour. My hair is fairly dark naturally so only these bold colours seem to work on my hair.
CONTENTS
In the box your receive a pair of gloves, instruction leaflet, colour creme, bottle of developer lotion and a tube of conditioner. I have shoulder length hair and the contents of the pack were more than enough for my hair. They do state that if you have very long hair two packs may be needed. I did, however find that the conditioner only lasted the one wash when it claimed there was enough for two washes.
EASE OF USE
As with all hair dyes, it can get messy, I put newspaper on the floor before I start, wear old clothes as it will stain, especially with these bold colours, and put some vaseline around the hairline to prevent staining the skin.
After all these mess preventing steps are taken the product is very simple to use. To make the dye, you just add the colour creme to the bottle of developer and give it a good shake. Then you are ready to apply. This product works on dry non washed hair which is a lot less bother than those ones where you have to wash you hair first.
The best way to apply the dye is to section the hair and do it in stages. This way you don't miss any bits. Always have a mirror to hand to check you've done the back. I always use an old comb and comb it through as I go aswell to make sure every strand is covered.
When this is done, sit back and relax for half an hour. The colour does not tend to drip. Massage is into the hair well and you should be able to wander round and get on with things without worrying that your colour is going to drip over everything! I flicked thorugh some dooyoo reviews with a cup of tea! Once the 30 minutes is up, just wash out fully and apply the conditioner, then rinse. The dye also washes the hair so there's no need for shampoo.
RESULTS
I was very pleased with the results. My hair was extemely shiny and the colour was deep and vivid. This is a permenant colourant so it should grow out rather than wash out. These colours do fade with time but a week on and I see no change in the colour as yet.
Overall, for the price and the amount of product you get I was very happy. The results are better than expected and I would purchase this again.
SOME TOP TIPS FOR HAIR DYING
However careful you are you will drop some! I always cover the floor in newspaper, if, however, you do get some on the carpet Vanish mousse does remove hair dye!
If you get any dye on the basin, tiles etc in the bathroom it will wash off immediately but not once it's dry so wash as you go!
The vaseline trick is a must! So many times I've dyed my ears as well as my hair!
Summary: Avery good hair dye, would use again
