Advantages: Amazing colour, works on very dark hair

Disadvantages: Stains badly so be super careful!

I absolute *love* this hair dye, especially the Live 'Lightening' colours. Normal high street bought hair dyes won't put a dent in my hair colour as it is a very dark brown/black, and normally I would have to bleach it or pay so many trillions of pounds in a salon.

Swarzkopf was actually a very refreshing change then, when it managed to do the impossible and fulfil all the claims it said on the box! I got a rich, lumious colour that I was constantly getting complemented on, even when it faded it was still a nice shade without my roots being hugely visible unlike that ugly blonde/black line you get when you bleach.

What I would recommend to get the best out of the lightening process is this:-

* Leave it on a lot longer than they say, I'd say a mininum of 2 hours, upto 3 or 4 if your hair is really dye resistant, you'll be able to see the colour change even under the dye if it's working

* Wrap your hair up in clingfilm or a plastic bag and hair dry it as heat activates the dye

* Forget the tint brush- it will take ages and by the time you've applied it all some colour might come out uneven as it's been on for longer. Instead massage it into your roots first if they need touching up then smooth it down the lengths, then tie up. The dye will bleed into those little areas you might have forgotten and give you even coverage

* If you're dying onto undyed or virgin hair do your roots last- the heat from your scalp will make this area dye faster and you don't want roots lighter than the rest of the hair as it'll make you're regrwoth look worse

* When your hair is up start cleaning, using a cleanser on your skin will remove your dye patches if you're going out after

* Also check every area you've been in for dye and make sure your hair is securely tied and wrapped before you start moving around. I have found smidges of dye on walls, carpets, everywhere and its noticeably harder to clean them after they've dried and stained

Good luck dyeing!

Summary: My new favourite hair product
