INTRO

I have used a couple of different colours of Schwarzkopf Live hair dye now over a period of about 6 years (generally all different shades of red though).

I have always been pleased with the results and have stuck to this brand throughout, however, the next time I dye my hair I will be trying a different brand as an experiment.

I think what first drew me to choosing Schwarzkopf Live was the packaging, it's bright and bold and very easy to see at a glance which colour you are looking at without having to pick different boxes up and inspect at closer range! Also there is a wide range of different colours, I was looking for reds and there was a huge variety.

APPLICATION

Application is pretty straightforward and painless -

Apply to dry hair - this is an advantage as it saves time, and also helps to reduce the mess and general 'murder scene' of the bathroom which can happen sometimes!

I have really thick hair and it's quite long so I always use two boxes, one definatly wouldn't be enough. This isn't really a problem as you should be able to pick up the boxes for less than £5 each and it's still cheaper and less hassle than going to the hairdressers!

After massaging the dye into your roots and working towards the ends of the hair, the 'leave in' time is approximately 30 minutes. Plastic gloves are provided for application and the instructions are easy to read and follow as you go along if need be.

I find that the dye spreads quite easily but it does get a bit potent and can make your eyes water a bit! I always make sure the bathroom window/door is open for ventilation!

Once the developing time is up, rinse through until the water runs clear and use the conditioner provided. I really like the conditioner that is included, it smells lush and leaves my hair feeling really sleek and silky.

RESULTS

I have always been really pleased with the colour acheived using Schwarzkopf Live, they have all been rich, glossy, even and exactly as described on the box! Occasionally my crown and scalp has been left slightly stained, so I do reccommend applying a small amount of vaseline or moisturiser around your hairline and ears incase of any staining, but it soon washes off anyway. My hair is left feeling really healthy and shiney.

I have always used the permanent range, and to be honest, it's not very permanent at all. I last dyed my hair 16 days ago and although I doubt that nobody else would notice, but I know that it has faded very slightly already. I have noticed that when I've been washing my hair - some dye is still coming out - so it's highly likely that I didn't rinse it all out properly in the first place and that is why the colour is not so intense anymore.

As mentioned in my introduction, I am going to try a different brand next time, if I can find one that matches the colour range, to see if the results are more permanent - but I would still definatly recommend Schwarzkopf Live to anybody thinking about dyeing their hair.
