Advantages: Cheap but effective
Disadvantages: No conditioner included
Having used permanent hair dyes regularly for about 15 years, and always buying the premium brands such as Nice and Easy or L'Oreal, which I had begun to find increasingly expensive, I decided to give this a try after seeing it on sale for £1.94 in my local supermarket. As most permanent hair dyes cost £4.80- £6 this is a bargain.
Schwartzkopf Poly Colour is a Permanent Hair dye boasting perfect grey hair coverage. The box and instruction leaflet contain all the usual warnings about allergic reactions and instructions to conduct a strand test and skin sensitivity tests and include illustrated instructions for use. The product is made in Germany by Henkel for Schwartzkopf.
I was firstly impressed at the price, but noticed as soon as I opened the box how this is £1.94- you do not get a tube of super conditioner and the gloves are very flimsy not the sturdy rubber gloves you get with L'Oreal or Nice & Easy dyes. The gloves are folded into a small square and stuck to the instruction leaflet.
This hair dye is easy to apply- you squeeze the tube of dye into the developing lotion bottle, shake well, apply the gloves and apply the hair dye mixture direct to dry hair. Leave on for 20-30 minutes then rise well and you are done. Use an old towel as you WILL get hair dye stains on your towels for the first weeks or so after you have dyed your hair.
The colour is good, it lasts a decent length of time- I noticed some fading after 5 weeks which is normal (either you grow startling roots or your hair dye (even permanent colour) fades over 4-6 weeks- its one or the other. I would personally have some fading of the colour of the dye so the roots are a lot less noticeable than have a distinct line of root regrowth.
I have now converted to using this product regularly and I find apart from the lack of a conditioner to use after you have first dyed your hair, this is easily as good as Nice & Easy (the colour seems to be stronger on my hair) and less than half the price.
Well worth a try.
