Schwarzkopf Supersoft Repair & Care Coconut Shampoo
Advantages: None, none at all...
Disadvantages: Absolutely rubbish from start to finish!
My partner bought this shampoo, I should have known better really than to mention I needed shampoo as he was on his way out of the door to drive to our local grotty discount store - he came back with this Schwarzkopf Supersoft Repair & Care shampoo in Yogurt and Coconut, and matching conditioner. Lucky me.
It is, as it's 79p (grimy yellow) price tag would suggest, rubbish. It feels like it could be a decent shampoo; the smell is extremely synthetic but nice(ish) in a not-very-much-like-coconut kinda way. It's got a plastic scent to it that's strangely addictive, I'm glad it doesn't linger once I've rinsed my hair but I do like it as I'm going through the arduous lathering process.
Now, I can hardly get a decent lather up at all using this shampoo but my friend (with whom I've discussed this shampoo) has used it and says she can easily lather up a thick Afro of foam with it. I have no reason to disbelieve her, but she lives 170 miles away so I wonder if it's an effect of the water quality in our different areas. For me, and it's MY review, the thin washing up liquid type foams sits lank in my hair and makes it feel like the most un-luxurious shampoo ever.
Considering the lack of bubbles, it's amazing the length of time I need to spend rinsing it from my hair. It's one of those shampoos that clings to your hair; once you've rinsed it all out, start again because I can promise you you won't get it all. And you need to get it all, this awful shampoo WILL make your hair look limp and dull so any residue you miss will just amplify this effect - a horribly heavy and lingering shampoo. Needless to say it doesn't make my hair look or feel very clean, to be fair it feels freshly washed for a couple of hours after washing but quickly loses this and looks dirtier than before it was washed. Another downside is the fact that my hair is always horribly tangled after I've washed my hair with this 'Repair & Care'; I have an irritating issue with my hair, and it's the fact that the merest hint of dampness or humidity will leave it practically in dreadlocks - a decent shampoo and conditioner will usually go some way to preventing baldness when I brush it though so it's not too much of a problem.
Until I use rubbish like this shampoo that is, and then even the best and most efficient conditioner can't save you! Honestly, this appalling 'Repair & Care' shampoo doesn't even PRETEND to be caring and I can tell you now that if my hair was in need of repair then there would be absolutely no chance of this helping at all. I used it to wash my hair three times, and that was only because I couldn't get out myself to replace this uber crap shampoo - for those two and a half days my hair felt dreadful, my scalp itched faintly but irritatingly and knotty tangles kept appearing when I knew I'd got them all out only an hour before. On the third day a sample sachet of Tresemme arrived in the post and I couldn't wait to run upstairs to use it despite the fact my hair had only just dried from the morning wash!
I didn't waste it, I placed the shampoo bottle on the sink downstairs and we used it as hand wash - it did a much better job of this, the annoyance being that it took an equally long time to rinse from my skin as it had my hair!
Don't bother, even if you see it for 20p a bottle. Naffer than naff.
Summary: Awful shampoo which I'll never buy again (not that I bought this one!)
