Advantages: lovely smell; inexpensive; pink bottle
Disadvantages: makes frizzy hair wild!
There are a few reviews on Dooyoo singing the praises of Schwarzkopf; however my experience of this shampoo has not been great. I have been using Schwarzkopf Supersoft Shampoo for the past fortnight and feel that I need to tell you that it's not all it's cracked up to be! My hair is naturally curly and frizzy at the best of times, so I thought that I would give my hair some much needed TLC (as I have wrecked my hair using my hair straightners too much) and bought Supersoft Velvet & Silky shampoo with Wild Rose Oil for dull, frizz prone hair.
Schwarzkopf Supersoft shampoo come in a wide range of varieties for hair types such as: normal, greasy, dry/damaged, fine/flyaway hair, coloured etc. I have tried the shampoo for normal hair before and it made my hair feel silky, so assumed that the Wild Rose Oil version would be just as good, however I was disappointed.
The shampoo comes in a 300ml bottle and the packaging looks appealing as it is pastel pink and comes in a squeezable plastic bottle. This cost me £1.59 from a supermarket and was buy one get one free. A bargain, or so I thought!
This particular version claims to be a 'gentle touch formula' for dull (which mine is not) or frizz prone hair (which mine is). It smells gorgeous and has a light Rose fragrance, so isn't overpowering and doesn't smell like something your Granny would use (as sometimes Rose smelling products can smell a little old-fashioned).
This shampoo has been developed with natural oils (wild rose) to be kind yet effective and is a ph-mild shampoo. This particular brand of Schwarzkopf claims to: smooth and add sheen to hair that is dull or frazzled and if your hair is lack-lustre and prone to being dry or frizzy, Velvet & Silky Shampoo will make your hair smooth and sleek to the touch with healthy shine.
Now, like most shampoo's the bottle recommends wet hair, lather and rinse and repeat if necessary (which I have done on numerous occasions) and recommends using Supersoft Velvet & Silky Conditioner to improve the manageability of dull, frizz prone hair.
So what's the problem with this shampoo? Well it's hard to describe the consistency of this product but a similar description would be like 'wet style hair gel'. This stuff is sticky and so thick that when you squeeze a blob onto your hair or hand - it slides straight off and doesn't even dissolve in the bath water!!! Also the shampoo doesn't lather up well. I felt that I needed to wash my hair twice for it to feel clean. The Shampoo did not make my hair feel silky, smooth or manageable.
I thought that maybe I needed to use this product for a while to have smooth and silky hair, so I used it for a fortnight (I wash my hair every other day) and the condition of my hair hasn’t improved. This shampoo has made my hair even frizzier than it already is, makes it feel rough and dry like straw.
I don't think that this product is value for money and any supermarket own label shampoo (which I have tried) is of better quality. If you don't want frizzy or wild hair I would recommend that you give Supersoft Velvet & Silky a miss.
Thanks for reading xx
