I have been using gel for a couple of years now, some days are good but some are bad. There are many different gels for many different styles. Here's one I have started using recently having had my hair cut rather short. Wella's Shockwaves Ultrastrong Max Hold Gel, its a story of two halves. For long haired folk... forget it, this product is not for you. However, you people with short hair, ie less than 1-1.5 inches in length... maybe. It's upto you. So what about the product... Smell ----- This is quite possibly the most disgusting smell you can get. If you excuse the analogy, its kind of like of like parfumating ... Read the complete review

My family has experience of many different hair gels, as we have a very varied set of hair styles and generally Shockwaves come out tops. I’ll start by saying it’s the best value gel and wax at the moment because for some reason every shop I see it in like Boots and Superdrug is doing a Buy 1 Get One Free Offer. This opinion is particularly about shockwaves gel. There is actually a big selection of gels that they offer, however I can’t really tell much of a difference. I have curly hair, it really is a state sometimes. I get my hair cut very often to aviod this but sometimes I find I can't be bothered getting up to go to the barbers and it grows. You see when my hair is short the curls are non existant but when my hair gets a bit of length into it the curls form and the constant barrage of slander rains down upon me. So I have tried many possible things to stop the curls, when one day I came accross shockwaves gel strong hold. On the back of this bottle it assured me I could mould and shape my hair into many positions and it would hold that position for a good few hours. Away with the curls I thought to myself so I picked ... Read the complete review

Shockwaves Ultimate Effects Wonder Gel comes in a nice shiny orange 150ml tube. The strength of the gel is indicated on the tube by a set of notches, this one being 4 notches. I presume this is to make it easy in terms of comparison with other products in the Shockwaves range. When you squeeze the gel into your hand it comes out as a clear but slightly misty liquid. It appears to have sparkly bits inside as well, like glitter. It is quite thick, it's not runny. The smell is quite strong. It's a fruity smell almost like peaches. To be honest it's quite sickly.. The gel is described as 'lightweight control'. It does appear to be lighter than other ... Read the complete review
