Advantages: A FINE FILM OF WAX TO HOLD YOUR STYLE OR ANY ROGUE HAIRS IN PLACE!

Disadvantages: THIS IS OILY SO NOT GOOD TO ADD TO HAIR DESPOSED TO NATURAL GREASINESS.

From starting writing reviews way back in March now I have found myself becoming ever increasingly startled at how much I really do spend on hair care products, folks!

A few pounds here, a tenner there and before you know it I have my very own Toiletries Bathroom Mountain steamily stacking up nicely in that most private of chambers!

Now hair wax is a product I have used since time immemorial due to its sleek nature; however is something I have never had a preferred brand for until of late, after forgetting my usual item on a trip away to Blackpool to visit my friend in June.

You know there is always 'something' we forget well that little blue pot of wax was mine - hence a visit to Boots the Chemist post haste...

Espying a sexy silver and tangerine orange hand-sized tub of Wella's 'New Look Shaping Wax' in amongst a myriad of choices, plus reading the bits of blurb scattered around the 75ml recyclable container I found it was designed for 'Mega hold', perfect for my thin tresses then as they need all the help they can get.

Priced at £2 on offer instead of the usual £2.42 for this 'ShockWaves' recently repackaged from the original '1 Night Wonder Wax', it is designed to do exactly the same thing as before - tame wild manes into some kind of order - or funk up shorter styles as well.

Figuring it was only a couple of pounds and would do me in the short term I have never stopped using this shaping wax since as I as I love it that much!

Manufactured by Procter & gamble, a free phone number is provided on the side of the pot for both the UK and ROI, plus additional info is available at www.shockwaves.co.uk.

Now this isn't rocket science to use, as it says on the screw on lidded tub it simply 'shapes and moulds' your hair into something, theoretically more manageable, which hopefully helps hold your style in place.

Just be aware to apply it very sparingly via a couple of fingertips to create an ultra-thin barrier - the chip pan head look is not cool nowadays!

Wax for me is one of the many aids I rely on to get my own style set in place, errant hairs are smoothed nicely down, flicks are defined with a sweep of oily finger-tipped dexterity and idiosyncrasies within our hair's natural waywardness can be ironed out in a jiffy with this handy little hair care's assistance. Easy to tweak errant strands into place - and washes out of the hair nicely too - no nasty sticky oily residue here, folks.

So to the most important point really, why do I like this particular item and would I buy it again?

Well firstly I like Wella's waxy substance as it smells gorgeous; not overpowering of course, but rather fruity in essence like peaches and it feels light and not as greasy as you would imagine for an oil-based solid like this. It washes off the hands easily too, it isn't as sticky a substance as you would imagine.

It does obviously add a shine which won't be suitable if you prefer a matte finish to your look though...

Importantly for me this wax does not weigh my hair down. My tresses are very thin and need thickening products added to achieve anything like a reasonable style, thus I do not want a heavy coating slicked on my hair that will gradually 'pull' it down during the day.
I am looking for an aid to help my locks literally stay in place once I've styled them which will last without flopping, and this ShockWaves mixture gives me exactly that.

Secondly, as far as value for money goes this stuff lasts practically forever; even when your style is short and funky a little goes a long, long way in setting your spikes. I have barely took the skin of the stuff let alone dented the middle and I've have used it on a daily basis for a good 5 to 6 weeks now!

It hasn't melted into a more liquid form despite really hot weather when I was away unlike another product of this ilk I purchased that ended up as sticky gloop either - Yuk.

I can recommend this excellent brand to you if you use this type of thing; and don't forget you can use the pot once empty for all sorts of things when travelling - ooh which reminds me it's a great size for transporting around too...

Today's review subject gets a shiny finished 5 Dooyoo Stars as it is a worthy subject in my opinion.

Well done Wella on another great range addition - now stop updating your stuff every two minutes please!
