I love trying out different hair products and also I love the Simple products, I came across the conditioner in Boots and really wanted to try them.
This conditioner has a very faint scent to it, it reminds me of all the Simple products that I have used. This conditioner smells fresh and clean, but isn't really perfumed and doesn't have a fancy scent to it. It doesn't smell bad, but it doesn't have a very luxurious or strong scent to it. This conditioner is perfume and colour free and dermatologically tested so it is great to use on sensitive skin.
This conditioner is very easy to apply, you simply take a small dollop in your hand and then work it through your hair, concentrating on the ends. I like to avoid my roots completely when I use this conditioner as it can weigh them down a little and make my hair look greasy and heavy.
What I Thought
I really like this conditioner, I find that as long as I keep it away from my roots and don't use too much of it at a time, my hair looks really silky and shiny. I find that this conditioner has a really great effect on my hair and it looks really moisturised and hydrated, this is great as my hair can be very dry looking because I dye and bleach my hair quite often.
My hair looks really clean when I use this conditioner, it leaves my hair very easy to manage and style and I find that my hair sits really well when I use it.
I quite like the scent of this conditioner and even though it isn't the most luxurious, it leaves my hair smelling nice and fresh.
This conditioner is ph balance and contains Calendula so it does not irritate my scalp, it also contains vitamin b5 to enhance the shine of my hair, I find that my hair does look much shinier and healthier than usual when I use it.
Price and Availability
You can buy a bottle of this Simple Gentle Care Conditioner in Boots for £2.69. I think that this is quite expensive for a 200ml bottle of conditioner, but sometimes it is on offer for 3 for 2, so I usually like to stock up when it is a little cheaper.
I really liked this conditioner, I find that it can leave my hair looking lovely and really manageable. This conditioner is really gentle to use on my skin and does not irritate my scalp, also it is full of vitamins and gives my hair a lovely shine. The only downside is that it can cause hair to be greasy if it is overused and also it is a little expensive. Overall I would give this conditioner 4 out of 5 stars.

I have tried many products from the Simple skincare ranges, but it is only recently that I became aware that they also make hair care products. I bought their Gentle Care Conditioner in the 99p store, with my vegan sister in mind initially, as it is an animal free product. She liked it so I bought some for myself..
WHAT IT CLAIMS TO DO
Simple say that their conditioner will produce" knot free, soft and healthy hair". It is said to be suitable for all hair types, and for those with sensitive scalps also. It is free of perfume and colour, and what Simple describe as "unnecesary" or "harsh" chemicals. This may lead you to believe that it is also free of parabens, but it does contain one - Methylparaben, so it obviously isn't suitable for those who wish to avoid these. On the nicer side, it contains pro-vitamin B-5, as well as geranium, calendula and chamomile.
Like most Simple products, the packaging is quite basic on this. The bottle is mostly white with a slash of green, and minimal artwork. It doesn't look luxurious but I think the bottle design fits with the company name and ethos. I don't mind a basic looking product providing the bottle is actually functional and the lid fits snugly, which it does.
Although no perfume as been added, the conditioner itself does have a mild scent. I didn't notice it when I first opened the bottle, I had to take a close up sniff. I can't say I especially like the smell, because it reminds me of the a vaguely musty gone off flower scent! However, as it is only noticeable when you tip the conditioner into your hand, and isn't apparent on my hair afterwards, I can live with it.
It doesn't feel especially creamy in the hand, but it is reasonably thick. I like products that aren't too runny as I find them wasteful but at the same time thick ones are harder to spread evenly throughout the hair. This one is the perfect texture for me.
APPLICATION AND RESULTS
I found the conditioner easy and pleasant to apply despite the scent. I felt that I didn't have to use too much on my long hair. It also rinsed out easily, which means it is nice and quick to use. At first I used it in combination with the Simple Gentle Shampoo, as recommended, but I have also used it with another shampoo. I ran out of the Simple one when I still had plenty of the conditioner to go. I didn't notice any difference between the results of the two coombinations to be honest. In both cases, I felt that my hair was indeed easier to brush, and had less tangles in than usual. Although my hair felt soft and looked clean, I did not think at first that it looked very conditioned. It lacked that extra healthy look that good conditioner can give. However, after about 7 days of daily use, I did think my hair looked better. It had more bounce, and the softness was more pronounced. So I think this is a conditioner that perhaps needs time to have an effect. This improvement lasted for the 3 weeks it took me to finish the bottle. I won't say the resultss are dramatic, but it does work for me. I have greasy roots and drier ends. I am not sure how well this would work if you were looking for an intensive treatment, or really dry hair as I do not think it is likely to be rich enough.
I have not suffered any irritation as a result of using this, but as I rarely do, I can't put the claim about this being suitable for sensitive scalps to the test.
WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT?
This product is only available in a 200ml bottle, so it is a smaller sized conditioner than many but I still think it represents good value, especially if you can get it for around a pound as I did. I like to use animal free products as well as those not tested on animals, so I will buy this again. However, I think that it isn't the most instantly impressive conditioner I have used. I am happy with the softness of my hair but not overwhelmed by how wonderful it looks! I would recommend it as a good choice for those looking for a basic everyday conditioner, but if you want something that adds a lot of shine for example, I think there are better products available. It obviously isn't for those who like prettily scented hair care products either.
Outside of the poundshops, I have seen it for sale in Sainsburys for £2.50, as well as in pharmacies. Look in Poundworld/Poundland first though!
[NOTE FOR VEGANS - not all Simple hair products are animal free -there are a couple of exceptions which are listed on their website.]

Until recently I was not aware that Simple made shampoo and conditioner even though I am very familiar with their facial skin care products which I often used during my teens. I reviewed the Simple shampoo yesterday and I have been using it together with this Simple conditioner.
I saw the Simple shampoo and conditioner in Boots when I was looking for slightly smaller bottles of hair products to take on a trip (instead of my usual large 900 ml bottle of Tresemme!) Like the shampoo, Simple conditioner comes in a 200 ml bottle and I paid £3 for the shampoo and conditioner together. On its own the conditioner is around £2.50.
The conditioner comes in a fairly standard flip top bottle with very recognisable, typical Simple branding. The packaging is a little bit plainer than the shampoo, as the shampoo has a bright green lid, whereas the conditioner bottle has very little colour and is almost completely white.
Simple Gentle Care Conditioner is also very gentle, mild and free from perfume, colour and harsh chemicals. It is dermatologically tested and pH balanced and supposed to protect your scalp and avoid any irritation while also providing the usual conditioning benefits you would expect, such as increasing the shine of your hair. It has pro vitamin B5 to help with the shine. Simple also promise that the conditioner will leave your hair knot free and detangled.
On dispensing the conditioner you can notice that, as with the shampoo, there is no scent to this product. You can barely smell it anything at all. When they said non-perfumed, they don't mean that it does not have an added fragrance such as a particular fruity or floral smell, but they literally mean you cannot smell it. This does not bother me although it is unusual.
The conditioner is thicker in consistency than the very runny shampoo, but it is also not especially thick or rich. It is white-ish in colour and can be very easily massaged into your hair. You should rub it all over your head and hair, and I like to make sure I focus particularly on the ends. I leave it for around a minute and then rinse it out thoroughly. This conditioner is easy to wash out.
It leaves the hair instantly feeling quite soft. However, some conditioners give an instant smoothing effect and seem to remove all tangles by the time you rinse it all out. This doesn't seem to happen to my hair when I use the Simple gentle conditioner. On a few occasions I have even felt that my hair seemed quite tangled and matted even after all the conditioner had been washed out. However, I have found that my hair was very easy to detangle afterwards and a comb did glide through it very easily, leaving it knot free and smooth.
As with the shampoo, my scalp has not felt irritated at all after using this conditioner. I do have fairly sensitive skin on my scalp and although most products are fine, I have found that occasionally my scalp has felt tight or itchy from a few shampoos and conditioners. I definitely do feel Simple can be trusted as far as the claim of gentleness and non-irration goes.
My hair was left clean and quite shiny. I didn't feel that the Simple shampoo and conditoner had any exceptional softening or shine factor, but it is perfectly satisfactory. It doesn't make my hair greasy at all and it actually seems to be effective at controlling oil and grease, as my hair still looks fine when I get up in the morning a full 24 hour after washing it.
I am happy with this conditioner as well as the shampoo. Although I will probably not switch to the conditioner or this range permanently instead of my favourite Tresemme salon silk products, I would be happy to buy Simple for travelling as it comes in a smaller bottle or use it occasionally to give my hair and scalp a break, as it really does feel gentle.
Simply not for me
I recently went on holiday and wanted to take a small bottle of conditioner with me as I didn't want it taking up too much room in my suitcase. The first one I came across was a conditioner from Simple. I knew Simple as a brand already as they are famous for their no use of perfume or colour so it's safe to use if you have really sensitive skin. I have also heard from other parents that their products are safe enough to use on babies so I thought I would give this conditioner a go.
Well, unfortunately it was not for me as I really did not condition my hair at all. I find I have to condition my hair after every shampoo in order to make it feel better and to be able to comb it through after a wash so I needed to use this product every time in the shower. According to the back of the bottle Simple gentle conditioner offers knot free, soft and healthy hair. It will restore and replenish your hair without irritating your scalp. It goes on to say that it will leave hair free of tangles making it easier to comb and style.
I used a normal size amount but it just did not smooth through my wet hair at all. I found I needed to use at least a third of the bottle in order to make my hair somewhat smooth. With the little bit that I used at first it really did nothing to make hair and made it quite matted and thick unfortunately. After I dried my hair it didn't really sheen any differently and wasn't any better than before. In fact I really didn't want to use it again after I had used it once. To me it seemed that because there are not lots of perfumes or colours in this it is too simple to actually do any good and in some ways a bit of chemicals might be needed to work miracles on your hair.
If you find the conditioner is for you, it includes Pro-Vitamin B5 which enhances sheen and is PH balanced so it works in harmony with your scalp. It also contains calendula for manageability.
The bottle I had was 200ml but unfortunately did not work for my hair!
I wrote a review yesterday for Simple Shampoo, so I thought I shoud write a review for the Simple Conditioner that i've been using with it...
I have only recently started using this conditioner, having been a fan of other Simple products for quite a while.
Like most things in the simple range, the packaging is quite "simple"- a white bottle with green writing.
The conditioner is white and has a nice consistancy - it isn't too "gloopy" if that makes sense!!! It goes on your hair nicely and doesn't feel heavy or too thick on there when you leave it on a minute or two.
The best thing about this conditioner in my opinion is the fact that it rinses out so easily and doesn't leave a residue in your hair that makes it feel oily (like some other conditners do).
I've been using it in conjunction with the shampoo and my hair feels really soft and light and looks really shiny, so I will definately be buying it again.
I got this for £1 in Poundland, but I believe it is around £2.20 at full prce, which I still think is quite cheap for such a nice conditioner :-)
Simple Gentle Conditioner contains calendula and pro-vitamin B5 for maximum sheen and manageability / It will leave hair free of tangles making it easier to comb and style.
