Advantages: None fragranced, kind to scalp

Disadvantages: Doesn't do much for me

My hair is so manky looking at the moment! Basically it needs a good cut (though I can't for the life of me decide on whether to go short and manageable or not!) and it needs re dying as I have roots popping through like a badgers bum! However I haven't been at all well and am currently writing this from my bed since an injection in my spine has near on crippled me (the effects should wear off soon I hope lol). I'm struggling to manage but of course hygiene and trying to look my best, as ever come first to me.

Knowing that I was having hospital treatment (I have to have said jab every 3 months to remain pain free), last week I went out and purchased lots of bits and pieces. You know stuff like wet wipes and body sprays and dry shampoo but the one thing I knew was going to suffer big time was my hair. It always does. I bought this to use in advance and as an after treatment to try get my hair to gloss up etc! I had high hopes for it considering it cost me £4.99 in Boots and is 'Simple' which of course is a trusted brand after-all!

The Packaging....

150ml white plastic bottom opening flip top pink lid concealing a small hole. On the front in dark green, dark pink and black writing I am told it's Simple, Intensive Conditioning Treatment (Sensitive Scalp). I'm then told it contains 'Active Ingredients Wheat Proteins And Shae Butter' and is for 'Dry/Damaged Hair' and is '100% Perfume & Colour Free' and is 'Dermatologically Approved'. Finally on the bottom of the tube size is stated. On the back of the tube I'm told a bit about the product, directions for use are given, ingredients are listed, contact details for Accantia are given (the manufactures of Simple products) and finally the recycle and bar-code are displayed. The tube is of decent size, is robust and most of all it says I am functional and it instills faith when buying it and convinces you that you are buying something that will work!

A Bit About The Product According To The Back Of The Tube....

Simple haircare products are 100% soap, perfume and colour free with no unnecessary additives and have active ingredients selected to care for the needs of your sensitive scalp.

For soft, shiny, more manageable hair use our Simple Intensive Conditioning Treatment. With Wheat Proteins and Shae Butter, it helps repair dry, damaged and dehydrated hair. It locks in moisture to help smooth split ends and protect against heat styling damage.

Directions For Use....

For an intensive treatment, after shampooing, massage generously throughout your hair. Leave for 3-5 mins. Rinse with warm water. For best results use at least once per week.

My Experience Using It....

Well the conditioner is thick and white and rather than creamy appears quite glossy and lumpy with like a slight jelly consistency to it. It is however really thick and you need quite a bit to coat the hair and I found about 2 size 50P's (alot) to evenly coat my hair. I always ring my hair out first and gently comb it through and it spreads onto hair easy enough but hair drinks it in quick so although easy to apply you have to be quick. Once on the hair as I have said hair drinks it and the whiteness vanishes and hair appears a bit greasy and goes a little hard to the touch.

I always leave it on about 5 mins to which then I thoroughly wash it off with lots and lots of warm water. It takes time to remove it and what makes it harder is that even when you've spent an age rinsing your hair out you can still feel some grease residue left and for your ages you think you haven't rinsed properly when you have!

I then dry my hair and again comb through which in itself isn't all that much of an easy task as this doesn't really soften my hair. Not only am I left with unfragranced hair my hair feels slightly grimy and lifeless to the touch. I do feel like I've used a conditioner when I've combed through my hair but that's because my hair feels weighed down and lifeless more than anything.

Things to improve if you blow dry and style your hair etc and you can of course use your usual hair styling products but I remain unimpressed with this conditioner. Although I can pep my hair up my hair isn't left feeling healthy, bouncy, glossy or softened or anything else really. It doesn't hurt my hair (particularly my scalp) but I would have at least expected my hair to be a little hydrated with a conditioner so thick and it really isn't. In my view it's no better than a normal put, on rinse off, every day conditioner but it could be deemed worse. It just doesn't do anything and my combination hair isn't keen on it at all! My greasy roots kick off an hour after using it and my dry ends and frizzy mid section misbehave as well! Not the best of results in conclusion!

Summary: Not worth it's price tag in my view and there is better out there!
