Soap and glory glad hair day
On a recent shopping trip when I was wandering around Boots stocking up on a few bathroom products, I decided to treat myself to something a little different and try this Soap and Glory Glad hair day shampoo.
When I was first looking at this I was a little dubious as to whether a shampoo as this one states could really suit all hair types and not cause any build up. I wish I had just put it back down and read some of the other reviews on here before buying this. Soap and glory have been a range of cosmetics that I have been trying a few of here and there this is the first one that I have bought that I have really been disappointed in.
The most important thing about a shampoo for me is how well it washes my hair. I have found that if I use this shampoo in the morning then my hair looks nice for the rest of the day, however, if I use this to wash my hair before bedtime and then not again in the morning by mid day I think that my hair looks a bit greasy and unclean. I don't particularly have greasy hair so I think that it must be the shampoo rather than my hair. So I only tend to use this in the mornings now, which isn't great to have because if I forget which does happen my hair doesn't look as nice. It is quite an inconvenience to have a shampoo that you just can't use whenever you want, definitely not a plus point.
This shampoo promises to deliver a fantastic shine and I have noticed a slight shine to my hair but not anything drastically different from the shampoo that I usually use. It really doesn't seem to give my moody mane a heave-ho, as soap and glory suggest.
The shampoo does smell really nice but the scent doesn't last long after I get out of the shower, which doesn't really bother me but it would be nice if it lasted a bit longer. Soap and Glory describes the scent as raspberry with fruit vinegar, I can't really detect anything specific other than a sweet but pleasant artificial fruit smell.
It does make my hair feel very soft but it also takes most of the body from it leaving it looking a bit limp and lifeless. I find that if I use this for a couple of days in a row then my hair actually looks worse than it would normally. I am now only using this a couple of times a week, because then I get the nice fragrance in the shower and it leaves my hair in a nice enough condition. Despite what the packaging states I think that I might suffer from a build up of this product very quickly.
The shampoo doesn't lather vey well, you need to use quite a large dollop of this to get anything to a normal level of lather in comparison to most other supermarket brand shampoos. This also means that I am using this up quite quickly, for a more expensive shampoo I usually expect that I need to use less and not more. I paid £5.22 for my tube of this and I was really expecting more for my money and more from the Soap and Glory range, this was a disappointment.
I love the packaging of this soap and glory shampoo, it is a typical design of the soap and glory range with a pink and slightly retro theme. Sometimes I think that the packaging can actually be a tad off putting as it is very feminine, but this one I rather like. In my opinion I think that it looks nice sitting next to the much less impressive tresemme bottles. It is also quite nice that it is in a squeeze tube rather than a usual shampoo bottle, I find it easy to use.
Sadly, this shampoo gets two out of five stars I would have awarded it three stars if it had been cheaper but for the price this really doesn't deliver enough to justify the cost. At the time I bought this I actually wanted to buy the matching conditioner but I couldn't get one, now I doubt that I will ever get the chance to try it as I doubt this soap and glory glad hair day shampoo will become a regular purchase for me. I would hesitate to recommend this because I don't think it is a purchase that I will be repeating any time in the near future.
Summary: Two out of five stars
